Job Description

Hours of work: 16.5 per week.
Working pattern: Part-time, term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 6.05 weeks annual leave).
As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata.
Fixed term until: 22.07.2027

We wish to appoint a Teaching Assistant. The post is for between 16.5 and 27.5 hours per week on a fixed term contract.

Main purpose

  • Support the class teacher in the teaching and welfare of pupils, ensuring all children have equal access to learning opportunities.

  • Provide targeted support to individuals and groups of pupils

  • Assisting children with any medical need as directed (training will be given)

  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and the school’s values throughout the school day.

We wish to appoint someone who will:

  • Assist in preparing the classroom and learning materials.

  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning, as directed by the class teacher.

  • Support children with any medical need, following specific guidance and care plans.

  • Monitor and record pupils’ progress and provide feedback to the teacher.

  • Supervise pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and on school trips as required.

  • Encourage and support positive pupil behaviour and well-being.

  • Support the school’s approach to safeguarding and child protection at all times.

  • Assist in maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment.

  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the headteacher or class teacher.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
