Teaching Assistant (TA3)

The successful candidate will work 34 hours per week, Term Time plus 1 week (Inset Days)

We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Teaching Assistant (TA3) with a proactive, can-do attitude to join our supportive team at Presfield High School. This role involves supporting pupils with ASC, taking a lead in implementing structured learning strategies, and helping to create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every student feels understood, supported, and able to achieve their full potential

Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, candidates who possess the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilence are just as important.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of the curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 & 5 in line with the plans of subject and curriculum leads, prepare, deliver, and evaluate intervention programmes for pupils of different ages and abilities, and support pathways for formal qualifications such as Entry Level and GCSE. They will assist teachers, both specialist and non-specialist, with the preparation and organisation of resources required for lessons and learning activities.

Full details of the role are detailed in the below Job Description and Person Specifiation.

About Us

Presfield High School is an oversubscribed specialist provision which caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism from age 11 through to 19. All our 133 students have an EHCP which identifies Autism as their primary need. We are advocates of Dr Stephen Shore’s belief that “If you have met one child with autism you have met ONE child with autism”. This underpins all that we do and we are committed to challenging the stereotypical views that are often associated with Autism.

We passionately believe in empowering our students and their families to advocate for their individual needs to support them to make meaningful contributions to society and to gain employment if that is their chosen destination. This is demonstrated in our diverse curriculum that promotes an aspirational academic and social pathway.

We are committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and Young People and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful applicants will be requested to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Due to the nature of the work involved, this post is "exempt" from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Interested candidates are welcome to attend for an informal tour around the school. Please contact the School Office on 01704 227831 should you wish to arrange a tour of the school.
