Are you an experienced and inspiring leader looking for your next challenge in Adult Social Care? Do you want to lead practice in a place where strong relationships, professional curiosity and community connection really matter?

In Devon, we are delivering an exciting transformation programme, Living Well in Devon, and we are looking for inspirational leaders to join us. This is an opportunity to help shape services, support confident practice and make a visible difference to adults, families and communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Manager to join our North Devon leadership team. Based in Ilfracombe, you will lead dedicated teams across Ilfracombe and South Molton. This is a rewarding role where you will shape practice, support and develop staff, and drive positive outcomes across two distinctive local communities. You will be supported by an established and experienced Community Services Manager, fellow Team Managers, an Advanced Social Worker and an Advanced Occupational Therapist.

With a work base in Ilfracombe, this role offers the chance to combine meaningful leadership with an exceptional quality of life. North Devon is home to stunning coastline, Exmoor, countryside, vibrant market towns and communities with a strong local identity and sense of place. If your looking to relocate it’s the perfect place with a comprehensive re-location attraction package.

As a Team Manager, you’ll create a positive team culture that promotes high-quality, strengths-based practice, continuous improvement and staff wellbeing. Devon has a strong focus on supporting colleagues and has developed a new strategy with an enhanced focus on staff emotional wellbeing. Working alongside experienced colleagues and partner organisations, you’ll help ensure people receive the right support at the right time, enabling them to live as independently as possible.

Why this role?

This role offers the opportunity to:
• lead social work and occupational therapy practice across Ilfracombe and South Molton
• be part of Devon’s Living Well in Devon transformation journey
• support teams to work creatively, confidently and collaboratively
• contribute to strengths-based, person-centred and community-focused practice
• develop your own leadership career through supervision, peer support, learning and development
• enjoy flexible working arrangements, where these meet service needs, alongside the quality of life North Devon can offer.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is an enthusiastic, inclusive and supportive leader who enjoys empowering others to succeed.
  • Can lead teams through change with confidence, compassion and clarity.
  • Understands the importance of balancing performance, quality of practice and staff wellbeing.
  • Has experience supporting practitioners to work effectively within complex legislation, policy and professional standards.
  • Builds strong relationships with colleagues, communities, health partners and external organisations.
  • Can support confident casework decision-making, reflective practice and proportionate risk-taking.
  • Holds a recognised professional qualification in Social Work or Occupational Therapy.
  • Has experience within Adult Social Care or a related field, including staff supervision, coaching or leadership responsibilities.
  • Is passionate about person-centred, strengths-based approaches that put people at the heart of decision-making.
  • Brings curiosity, innovation and a commitment to continuous learning and service improvement.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking service where collaboration, innovation and shared leadership are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll join a supportive and experienced leadership team that is committed to developing its people, delivering excellent services and achieving meaningful outcomes for the residents of North Devon.

You will have the opportunity to lead social work and occupational therapy practice, support confident decision-making, champion strengths-based approaches and help staff feel supported to do their best work.

Like neighbouring coastal and rural authorities, Devon offers the chance to practise in communities where rurality, locality working and partnership relationships create both challenge and professional reward.
