    About Us

We are Newham, we have a radical vision to build a better and brighter future for our residents. We are five miles east of the City of London and changing rapidly. Our part of East London is booming. By building a fairer Newham, we are supporting our residents to reach their potential and thrive.

Right now Newham residents are exposed to high levels of toxic pollution from vehicles, contributing to the highest death rate in England. We are committed to tackling that and working with residents to create a healthier borough.

To achieve our promises to residents, we need people who are driven and ready to deliver the very best for our communities. We are now seeking enthusiastic applicants for these new roles in the Highways and Transportation team, which is part of the council's Environment and Sustainable Transport directorate.

There are a number of roles available and each one will be pivotal to the council delivering a wide range of traffic, parking and environmental schemes from feasibility, design, consultation right up to the implementation stage, service development, key public realm improvement priority schemes, including the design and delivery of planned highway maintenance schemes and Highway Safety Inspections.

We are also delivering a major project along the Royal Docks Corridor (RDC) in the borough and we are seeking experienced staff to help us deliver this exciting project.

We are able to offer working arrangements that will enhance your work/life balance including remote and at home working.

    About You

Working in a varied and fast paced environment, you will use your existing knowledge and experience to support service delivery in a range of interesting and challenging roles.

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience working in a busy environment with excellent communication and ICT knowledge and skills of the service area and experience of dealing with contractors, Elected Members, the general public and other external stakeholders.

You will be involved in some of the most significant and ambitious service initiatives the sector has to offer including the Kerbside Infrastructure Programme, Active and Sustainable Transport, Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and Healthy School Streets.
