Are you passionate about helping communities feel safer, stronger and more resilient? We are looking for a Temporary Community Safety Officer to work with residents and partner organisations to identify local concerns, coordinate practical responses and build confidence in community safety services.

About the Role

You will lead and coordinate community safety activities that support local priorities, responding to issues including anti-social behaviour, hate crime, serious violence, exploitation, vulnerability and community tensions.

Working closely with residents, the police, housing providers, health services, schools, youth services and voluntary and community organisations, you will gather community intelligence, support early intervention and prevention projects, and help deliver effective multi-agency action plans. You will also facilitate meetings and engagement events, promote community resilience and ensure seldom heard and vulnerable communities have opportunities to be involved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop effective relationships with residents, partner agencies and community organisations
  • Gather and assess community intelligence and data to identify emerging risks, tensions and local hot spots
  • Coordinate appropriate multi-agency interventions and support local problem-solving approaches
  • Help develop early intervention and prevention programmes addressing the root causes of community safety concerns
  • Support delivery of partnership action plans and community safety projects, including funding bids where required
  • Facilitate community meetings, forums, engagement events and consultation activities
  • Monitor and evaluate projects, maintain accurate records and produce reports and action plans

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience of community engagement, community cohesion or community safety initiatives
  • Experience of effective partnership working and bringing people together to deliver initiatives or events
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organisation and time-management skills
  • The ability to listen, question, coordinate and negotiate positive outcomes with a wide range of people
  • A proactive, flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

In return we can offer you a competitive salary, 24 days annual leave rising to 29 days subject to length of service (pro rata), a great work-life balance with flexible working arrangements, employer pension contribution, free onsite parking, discounted gym membership, access to occupational health and wellbeing services, extensive training and development opportunities and a supportive workplace culture that allows you to develop and grow.

Closing date: 1 November 2026

Salary range

  • £34,237 - £36,581 per year
