Therapeutic Family Intervention Worker

Temporary for 12 months, Full Time, 37 Hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time therapeutic family intervention worker to join the RMBC Empower Service, to work with professionals, carers, children and young people. This is a 12 month post.

Empower provides dedicated specialist therapeutic services to kinship families, children who are cared for by foster carers and also birth families as part of the reunification pathway. The team aims to promote a greater understanding by carers of children’s emotional and developmental health and their attachment and trauma issues. The models used include trauma and attachment based theories such as Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, DBT, family therapy and mentalisation to name but a few.

The post holder will lead on a specific area of expertise; therapeutically based family support, as well as lead in parenting interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As a team, we are therapeutically informed with an approach that is able to both help and challenge families (birth, kinship and care) to ensure that they are able to stay together or reunite.

The post holder will undertake assessments of need, offer support, advice and therapeutic consultations and deliver training. Experience is required in assessment, facilitating meetings with professionals/carers and leading therapeutic networks to support placements.
