We are recruiting a Trainee Development Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Full time, Fixed Term for 12 months
Location: Ty Penallta/ Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

Caerphilly Council is a developing local authority and have two flagship developments currently underway in Oakdale and Risca. In order to deliver against the Cabinet’s ambition to deliver 1000 new homes by 2033, we are looking for a passionate public services university student to join us for 12 months on our development journey.

You will obtain experience of identifying potential development sites, coordinating and overseeing relevant survey work, project management, placemaking, SAB, Planning and the delivery of development projects as per the RIBA 0-7 process.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is currently undertaking or has just finished a joint honours degree (one element of which should be Planning) to join an energetic and evolving development team who are focused on delivering great places and cohesive communities.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Pursuing a recognised undergraduate planning qualification (BSc) / joint honours where the course incorporates or requires a year-out placement as an integral component for qualification.
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively and deliver work on targets.
  • The ability to be passionate about the delivery of great public services.
