About the Role

Knowsley Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee IT Officer to join our Production Support team within the wider IT Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to build a strong foundation for a career in IT. You’ll be part of the frontline support team, helping to resolve technical issues experienced by council staff using Microsoft 365, laptops, and Android mobile devices configured with Microsoft 365 apps (such as Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive). Your work will help keep essential council services running smoothly.

You’ll also have the chance to gain insight and experience in other areas of IT including infrastructure, cyber security, and application support. As the Council continues to explore and adopt innovative technologies such as AI, you may also support colleagues in using new digital tools and help document best practices as part of wider service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support to users for issues relating to Microsoft 365, laptops, and Android mobile devices.
  • Assist in logging, tracking, and resolving IT support tickets.
  • Learn to install, configure, and maintain software and hardware to agreed standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and support the creation of system documentation.
  • Help extract reports and useful information from systems using internal tools.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to gain exposure to infrastructure, security, and application support disciplines.
  • Support colleagues and end users as the Council explores modern digital tools and AI-based solutions.
  • Work in a hybrid setting, attending Knowsley Council offices when required.
  • Follow all Council policies and procedures relevant to your role.
