At the heart of this exciting development is the newly established and developing Foundation Intelligence College (FI-C) - a centre of excellence for foundational intelligence education.
We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking trainer to join our team and contribute to a transformative period in Defence Intelligence education. You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to developing and continuously improving world-class training programmes that meet the evolving needs of UK Defence Intelligence. Job description
This role offers a unique blend of training delivery, curriculum development, operational management, and strategic contribution within a newly formed college dedicated to advancing Defence Intelligence capability. This is a hands-on role with real influence giving you the opportunity to shape programmes that respond to the rapidly evolving intelligence landscape. Your contribution will help ensure our training remains agile, relevant, assured and deeply impactful; empowering Defence Intelligence personnel with the critical skills and mindset needed to operate effectively in today’s complex global environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Foundational Training: Deliver and facilitate engaging and effective intelligence training courses and workshops ensuring learners gain critical foundational skills.
- Develop and Improve Curriculum and Training Delivery: Collaborate with colleagues to source, design and develop training content. Ensure foundation intelligence training remains relevant, operationally focused, up to date, and in line with defined standards. Investigate new and innovative ways to deliver training.
- Manage Training Operations: Oversee key college functions including governance processes, management of the Defence Trainer Cadre, and general administrative ana management duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Engage with the Intelligence Community: Conduct outreach and visits to Defence and partner intelligence organisations to deepen understanding of intelligence application and inform training development.
- Mentor and Support Trainers: Provide mentoring, and support to fellow trainers, fostering a collaborative and professional learning environment.
- Support Digital Faculty Growth: Participate in shaping the new Digital Faculty including expanding digital and data training pathways to enhance the digital capability of Defence Intelligence personnel.
- Continuous Professional Development: Undertake mandated learning and upskilling to maintain professional competence and contribute to the Academy’s culture of innovation and excellence.
The transformation of intelligence training will see the DIA and the FI-C established at RAF Wyton in the next few years. The established location of this role is therefore based at RAF Wyton, with regular attendance at the Academy's Chicksands location expected.

ESSENTIAL Criteria:
- Subject Matter Knowledge: Experience of working in an intelligence environment, any intelligence discipline or capability, across government, military, police or commercial.
- Instructional expertise: Experience of working in a training environment and able to convey complex ideas to an audience from a diverse range of backgrounds.
DESIRABLE Experience and Knowledge:
- Intelligence Analysis: Experience as an intelligence analyst from any intelligence capability across government, military, police or commercial.
- Training Delivery: Experience of training delivery.
- Training Management: Experience of training governance, management or assurance.
- Organisational Knowledge: Understanding of Defence Intelligence organisations, structures, and operational processes.
- Training Frameworks: Familiarity with the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) and Defence Intelligence training governance (e.g., JSP 822).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Comfortable engaging with a wide range of customers, partners, and stakeholders across Defence and beyond.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. Presentation
At interview you will be asked to deliver a 10-15 minute presentation on a given intelligence/training topic.
If the successful candidate does not hold the necessary clearances, they will be asked to undergo our vetting procedures. Should the candidate fail to obtain the relevant clearances the provisional job offer will be rescinded. It should be noted that this process can take several months.
