Derbyshire Constabulary are recruiting for a Transferee Constable - Force Drug Expert

Turn your expertise into justice and play a pivotal role in shaping court outcomes as a Force Drug Expert!

From impartial Drug Expert Witness reports to in house identifications, your knowledge will help tackle drug trafficking and financial crime under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

You will be required to produce and present expert drug trafficking evidence at court which is primarily experience based and governed by the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Rules.

What you’ll be doing:

• You will provide impartial Drug Expert Witness reports in accordance with Part 19 of the Criminal Procedure Rules, Criminal Practice Directions & Disclosure Rules.
• The delivery of evidence in a court of law in respect of drug trafficking cases and their subsequent financial investigation.

To be accepted as a transferee you must:

• Be confirmed in the rank of Constable
• Be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland (please note we cannot accept an application to transfer from an officer serving with a non-Home Office police force).
• Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
• Have a full manual driving licence

The must haves:

• You must have successfully completed a recognised Drug Expert Witness Course.
• Have a deep and extensive knowledge and understanding of the uses causes and effects of controlled drugs including consumption methods.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of drug terminology, slang and pricing including street, wholesale, and bulk values.
• Show proven experience of and involvement in drug investigations.
• Have a detailed knowledge of current drug trends, cutting agents, packaging, production, importation, and distribution methods.
