Derbyshire Constabulary are looking for Transferee Detective Constables - Child Investigation Team

Bring your investigative expertise to the forefront with our Child Investigation Team (CIT) and be part of the Crime Directorate!

Make a meaningful impact and join a team committed to protecting vulnerable children and securing justice.

We’re looking for officers who can demonstrate strong investigative and decision making skills.

You’ll be responsible for handling sensitive and complex cases, including physical and emotional neglect, familial assaults, Sudden Unexpected Deaths in Infants and Children (SUDI/C) and Rape and Serious Sexual Offences involving children under 18.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will demonstrate a victim centred approach to safeguard, listen and support victims of rape, serious sexual assaults, physical assaults, neglect & bereaved parents.

  • You will carry out a context led investigation, looking wider than an isolated incident and viewing the circumstances to understand and mitigate the identified risks.

To be accepted as a transferee you must:

  • Be confirmed in the rank of Constable
  • Be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland (please note we cannot accept an application to transfer from an officer serving with a non-Home Office police force).
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Have a full manual driving licence

The must haves:

  • You must be accredited to PIP Level 1 and Level 2
  • You must have completed or willing to attend the Specialist Child Abuse Investigation Development (SCAIDP) portfolio and maintain the accreditation through Continued Professional Development.
