Join our elite training team as a National Firearms Instructor and shape the skills, confidence and capability of Authorised Firearms Officers, Student Officers & Firearms Commanders.
You will support in the research, design, planning and delivery of training across the broad spectrum of armed policing.
You are required to be part of a cadre of officers who perform the role of Firearms Tactical Advisors on a
rota. This is covered in small blocks with an element of on call outside of working hours.
Any applicant who is not already qualified will be required to attend a Firearms Tactical Advisors course & continue with ongoing accreditation to maintain the Tactical Advisor role profile.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will undertake the responsibility of Range Safety Officer, Range Conducting officer, Exercise Safety Officer and Exercise Conducting Officer ensuring standards of safety and good practice.
- You will monitor the welfare and health and safety of students and lead by example in setting and maintaining standards.
- You will maintain a level of fitness and medical standards in line with the ARV role profile as detailed by the NPFTC.
- You must have undertaken and passed Personal Safety Training & JRFT within the last twelve months and must be able to pass the JRFT to level 9.4 on application.
You must be Substantive in the rank of Constable and a current and competent National Firearms Instructor.
In addition, please ensure you meet the transferee eligibility requirements which are:-
- Be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland (please note we cannot accept an application to transfer from an officer serving with a non-Home Office police force).
- Have a full manual driving licence.
- Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
- Be confirmed in rank
