What’s the role?
Join us as a Transformation Delivery Lead in Lewisham's new Transformation Delivery Unit. Lewisham Council is on an ambitious journey. We’re looking for strategic leaders with exceptional organisational, planning, and interpersonal skills to shape and deliver service redesign and transformation initiatives. As part of the Corporate Transformation Delivery Unit, the driving force behind Lewisham’s most critical change programmes, you’ll lead complex projects that improve services and deliver measurable benefits for residents. Our transformation portfolio spans the entire organisation, and you’ll work closely with senior officers and stakeholders on programmes focused on:
- Enhancing how residents access and experience the Council’s services
- Transforming our corporate ways of working to boost efficiency and performance
- Building a supported, skilled workforce ready to deliver on our ambitions
- Improving outcomes for residents who rely on children’s and adult social care

We are hiring for 3x permanent positions and 1x fixed term 18-month contract.
As a Transformation Delivery Lead, you will:
- Oversee the design, planning, and implementation of transformation initiatives, driving innovation and measurable benefits.
- Work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to resolve challenges and influence strategic priorities.
- Manage programme governance, ensuring appropriate project management frameworks, reporting, and risk management processes are followed.
- Line manage project managers and delivery teams, supporting their development and performance.
- Provide expert advice, clear reporting, and assurance to boards and decision-makers.
- Develop frameworks and tools that contribute to the development of a high-performing transformation function.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in managing large-scale, complex transformation programmes in a public sector setting.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and leading effective teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across a range of partners and engage effectively with senior leaders and operational teams.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to balance the broader vision with day-to-day project delivery.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines.
- A relevant qualification in project or programme management (e.g. PRINCE2) or equivalent experience is desirable.

Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Salary
£63,816 – £69,660 per annum (PO8-SMG1)
N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
