Are you local to Rutland and looking for a new opportunity? We are looking for a highly motivated person to join our Transport Operations Team to work closely with the School Transport Officer and the Rural Transport Officer.

About you…

To be successful you will need to have:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of contract enforcement
  • Experience of IT including the maintenance of accurate records within an office environment
  • Committed to delivering a high level of customer service to clients
  • Experience of working with children and young people with SEN and complex medical needs

About the role…

As the Transport Inspector your duties will include:

  • To monitor, inspect and survey home to school buses and taxis contracts and all other public transport contracts
  • To monitor and inspect school bus passes and taxi usage on contracted routes to ensure that the passenger manifest reflects actual usage
  • To assist with and ensure that bus shelters, stops, poles and timetable cases are fit for purpose and display accurate information
  • To contribute to the annual route planning for home to school transport with accurate route and timing information as necessary
  • To provide bus punctuality statistics to the Transport Operations Manager

Please note that the role requires onsite working 5 days a week.

The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.

The face to face Transport inspector interviews will be held on 10 March 2026. Please be advised this could be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.
