We’re looking for a Service Delivery Manager (Senior Ranger) to join our Urban Parks Team, playing a key role in caring for some of the borough’s most well‑loved parks and open spaces. This is a hands‑on role for someone who values working with people, supporting communities, and seeing the difference their work makes on the ground.
The Urban Parks Service looks after an extensive and varied portfolio of green spaces across Rotherham. We are responsible for 10 large urban parks, 14 recreation sites, and a range of other public open spaces, together forming a network of over 200 sites enjoyed by residents and visitors every day. We are a small, committed team who work closely together to deliver the safe, effective, and welcoming day to day management of Rotherham’s urban green spaces.
About the role
As part of the Urban Parks Service, you’ll lead and support the Urban Park Ranger Service, Clifton Park Ranger Service and Clifton Park Horticulture Team, helping them deliver high‑quality, welcoming and safe parks for everyone to enjoy.
Day to day, you’ll:
- Lead, support, and develop frontline teams working in our urban parks
- Make sure parks are well cared for, inspected regularly and managed safely
- Help shape improvements that enhance park environments and visitor experiences
- Work closely with local communities, Friends groups and partner organisations
- Be visible, approachable, and proud to represent the Urban Parks Team
This role would suit someone who:
- Has experience managing urban parks, green space services or similar frontline teams
- Enjoys supporting, motivating, and developing people
- Understands health, safety and environmental responsibilities
- Communicates clearly and confidently with staff, communities and partners
You’ll be joining a supportive service that genuinely cares about Rotherham’s parks, its communities, and its people. This is a great opportunity to lead a passionate Urban Parks Team and help create green spaces that residents can enjoy and feel proud of.
