Job description
(This is a Welsh Language Essential role)
As an Executive Officer in Tax Compliance, you will play a key role in delivering the WRA’s mission by supporting the effective administration of National Registration requirements and the Visitor Levy. You will support the Visitor Levy and National Registration lead in ensuring that processes and guidance are ready for ‘go live’. You will help ensure that individuals and businesses understand their obligations and pay the correct tax at the right time.
The role combines compliance activity, customer engagement, and data analysis. You will manage cases that involve reviewing registrations, assessing Visitor Levy returns, and identifying potential non-compliance. A core part of the role is working with taxpayers—particularly accommodation providers—to encourage and support voluntary compliance through clear guidance and early intervention, while taking proportionate action where issues arise.
Working within the WRA means adopting a collaborative and service-led approach to compliance, balancing enforcement with education. You will contribute to protecting public revenue in Wales while maintaining a positive relationship with taxpayers, reflecting the WRA’s commitment to being fair, approachable, and responsive.
This role is well suited to individuals who are detail-oriented, confident in communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, and motivated to contribute to the delivery of Visitor Levy and National Registration.
"This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new area of work as we establish and deliver a new register and levy. We’re looking for people who are curious, motivated and eager to learn—whatever your background, bring your unique skills and perspective, and we’ll support you to build a rewarding and fulfilling career in compliance."
