ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

The Bridge School is a KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit for students who have been excluded from Mainstream High Schools or who are at risk of exclusion. Our learning offer includes a broad and balanced curriculum with a focus on the core academic subjects English, Maths and Science.

The Vocational Centre broadens our school offer and provides a distinctive curriculum designed to engage KS4 learners who require a more practical learning pathway or who may benefit from alternative learning arrangements. Many of our students experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and often present with some additional needs and barriers to learning.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational and aspirational Catering and Hospitality Tutor. You will be a person-centred, organised, and emotionally resilient professional who can develop a practical curriculum that supports individual need and promotes continuity and progression for our learners. You may have a trade background and have previous experience in teaching vocational catering and hospitality courses. A secure knowledge and understanding of Level 1 / 2 courses, and the ability to accurately assess to ensure that the highest possible standards of learner achievement are met is essential. This is a new vocation for the school so experience of starting a new project is preferable.

You will be delivering to small groups of learner, initially 4, but due to challenging needs and behaviours you will be required to contribute to the management of learner behaviour, displaying a high level of professionalism conducive to a school environment.

At all times you will be committed to ensuring high expectations for behaviour and learning and demonstrate a professional responsibility to promote the safeguarding and welfare of our learners.

Informal discussions with the Headteacher and visits to the school are welcome. These can be arranged by contacting the school office on 01928-581301. Applications can be obtained from the school website or Halton Borough Council Vacancies.

You should note that, if successful you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check or Enhanced DBS Check for Regulated Activity (formerly Criminal Records Bureau). Further information about DBS checks can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its learners and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Our school is an equal opportunities organisation which welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

If you are successfully shortlisted , please note as part of the short-listing process schools and colleges will carry out a basic online search using the search engine 'google' as part of their due diligence on shortlisted candidates (KCSIE 22).

At Halton Borough Council we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce and a vital part of this is to encourage diversity in all respects.
