The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join Derby City Council as a Void Operative/Driver, playing an important role in preparing properties for Derby Homes to a high standard so they can be made ready for residents.

You'll enjoy a varied, Hands-on role where no two days are the same, working as part of a supportive team while also having the opportunity to use your own initiative. Your work will make a real difference to local communities by ensuring homes are safe, clean and ready for people to move into.

What you'll be doing
• General cleaning of void properties including the cleaning of white goods and carpets.
• General clearance work in void houses and gardens. This can include loft clearances, dismantling structures, removing hazardous material such as needle and drug and litter, removing bulky items, removing white goods, removing carpets, fixtures and fittings.
• New Build works including labouring duties, cleaning of welfare facilities, rubbish removal.
• Cleaning and clearance work for the other departments of Derby Homes including kitchen and bathrooms.
• Working in a licenced Waste Transfer Station on behalf of Derby Homes.
• Works carried out on behalf of the Environmental health service, including clearance and cleaning work.
• Work for other internal and external customers which will generate income.
• Removing bulky waste items.

About you
We're Looking for a reliable and hardworking candidate who takes pride in delivering a high standard of work and providing an excellent service.

You'll have experience carrying out clearance and cleaning duties, a good understanding of health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE. You'll hold a full UK Driving Licence and have a good standard of education.

You'll be a team player who works well with colleagues, whilst also being confident working independently and using your own initiative. A Positive attitude, good communication skills and a flexible approach are important, as you'll be working a varied and practical role.
