The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Community Meals Driver to join our Community Meals Team on a weekend basis.

The community meals team provides an essential service to residents across North Somerset by preparing, regenerating and delivering nutritious meals and desserts to people who may struggle to shop and prepare food independently. The service helps support residents to remain healthy independent and connected within the community.

As a community meals driver, you will be responsible for delivering meals directly to customers in their homes, providing a friendly and professional service, and acting as a valued point of contact for many vulnerable residents. The role requires excellent customer service skills, reliability and the ability to work independently while following allocated delivery routes.

This is a weekend position working 3 hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering meals and desserts in a timely manner
  • Providing a friendly and professional service during deliveries
  • Completing vehicle safety checks and reporting any concerns to a Senior Lead
  • Following food hygiene standards, health and safety and lone working.
  • Reporting any customers welfare concerns in line with service procedure
  • Maintaining accurate delivery records where required.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working with the local community, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • Driving Experience
  • Knowledge of North Somerset and Surrounding Area]
  • Experience of Lone Working
  • Basic knowledge of carrying out vehicle checks
  • Ability to follow a route plan

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working with older people, vulnerable adults or within a community based servcie
  • Awareness of safeguarding and customer wellbeing issues
