Park Primary School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and committed Welfare Lead to join our dedicated team.

We are looking for an experienced professional who will undertake the responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, in line with organisational requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading pastoral support, promoting positive mental health and driving high levels of pupil attendance across the school.

The role involves supporting and working alongside families to help keep children safe, providing advice, guidance and signposting to enable access to appropriate services. You will also lead on delivering parenting and family support to strengthen pupils’ social, emotional development and wellbeing.

The Welfare Lead will take proactive action to promote and secure good attendance; working closely with pupils, families and external agencies to remove barriers, challenge persistent absence and ensure all children can fully access their education.

You will advise and support staff on a range of matters and work in partnership with external agencies to ensure coordinated and effective support for pupils and families.

We are looking for someone who:

Has significant experience in safeguarding and working with children and families

Is committed to improving outcomes for all children

Has a strong understanding of attendance procedures and strategies to improve attendance

Is confident in handling sensitive and confidential information

Is highly organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities

Has strong interpersonal skills and can build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our pupils and their families within a supportive and forward-thinking school community.

Visits to the school are encouraged and warmly welcomed. For further information regarding the role and to arrange a visit on one of the days listed below, please contact our Business Manager, Helen Tickell on 0151-638-6008 Ext. 4.

Opportunities to visit the school:

Friday 17th April - 14:00 and 16:00

Monday 20th April - 09:00 and 16:00

The working hours are 08:20 to 16:00 Monday to Friday, with a 35 (33) minute unpaid lunch break each day. The contracted weeks are 39, which is term time plus five inset days.

Please see the attached job description and person specification.

Application forms and supporting letters detailing how you meet the essential and desirable criteria within the Person Specification should be emailed to recruitment@park.wirral.sch.uk CVs will not be accepted.

Application forms can be downloaded from Wirral Council website (link below). They can also be accessed by visiting the ‘Vacancies’ section of our website. You can also obtain paper copies by contacting our school office.

All applicants will be considered on the basis of suitability for the post regardless of sex, race or disability.

Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, as part of our pre-employment due diligence, we will undertake general online searches for all shortlisted candidates. This may include social media websites and video platforms. Online searches will only examine data that is publicly available. Any areas of concern will be discussed during the interview process.
