Workshop Manager - Fleet Management Team
Salary: £45,624 to £52,038 per annum Plus £5,000 pa market supplement (subject to annual review)
Grade: F
Permanent Contract
37 Hours Per Week, core hours 08:00 – 16:00, 06:00 – 14:00 when required.
About the Department
Fleet Management Team are responsible for delivering all Council activities relating to vehicles and plant from procurement through to disposal. Between these stages, our Fleet Management Team are responsible for routine & programmed maintenance services, inspections, reactive repairs, legal requirements, licencing, other statute requirements, ongoing compliance, insurance, fuel management and vehicle & plant supply to all Council frontline operations.
About the Role
To manage and coordinate the effective use of labour, parts and other resources in respect of; diagnostics, inspections, service and repair of vehicles, plant and equipment, in a safe, efficient and economical manner with due regard to current legislation, Thurrock Council's Maintenance Policy with regard to the operator’s licence and relevant health & safety policies. Ensure workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic systems are maintained, safe, and calibrated. Ensure all HGVs meet Operator Licence and DVSA standards at all times.
To act as the Quality Controller with regards to Thurrock’s MOT station and to undertake regular quality checks of the stations nominated testers in line with VOSA regulations
It is essential that applicants hold a full current UK/EU driving licence preferably cat C and hold a recognised level 3 HGV C3; G or equivalent as a minimum.

Ability to manage a team to achieve high levels of performance and quality standards.

Ability to organise work priorities and allocate work to meet performance targets.

Vehicle maintenance and repair diagnostic skills.

Ability to interpret and assimilate technical information.

Effective report writing.

City and Guilds Full Technological Certificate or equivalent technical qualification.

Substantial experience of supervising a HGV vehicle workshop repair and maintenance facility.

Substantial experience working in a diagnostic capacity within a vehicle repair environment
-
Demonstrable experience of working with software systems in a transport related environment
