About the team

This is an exciting opportunity to join our youth team as a Support Youth Worker where you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the King’s Trust Team Programme at Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

About the role

Team is a 12-week programme working with 16–25-year-olds who are not in employment, education or training. It is a varied role where you will deliver the programme. Part of the role will be session delivery, supporting young people with work placements, their next steps, a hands-on community project and helping them with personal challenges that they may face.

You would also attend a 4-day team building residential activity 3 times a year. Building relationships with external agencies to advertise our programme and directly help with the recruitment of young people to the programme.

About you

Essential:

  • Ability to work in a Team, particularly in partnership with other Youth Support Workers.
  • Able to work on own initiative, with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload
  • Organisational skills and self-motivation.
  • Willingness to take responsibility.
  • Good administrative and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to identify suitable projects, placements and challenges.
  • Full driving licence and use of own vehicle.

Desirable

  • Ideally you will have experience of working with young people and an understanding of the challenges that they face today, but this is not essential as we will provide training to develop someone who has a ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to learn.

We encourage you to include examples of where you have demonstrated the requirements/criteria in the advert / job profile to allow the panel to fully recognise your skills and abilities. You will have the opportunity to include a short covering paragraph within your application to give us a little more information about your skills, knowledge, and experiences.

We welcome applications from candidates who currently reside in the UK with established proof of right to work documentation. We are not able to offer sponsorship at this time for this role.

This job role is Level 7. Please locate the job profile here:
