Public Health are seeking a Senior Public Health Project Officer – Workplace Health to join the team at level A. This is the entry point of the role, so you will need to be able to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, experience and skills to get you started, but you will be supported to develop in your role through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. All elements of level A listed within the person specification are essential. Through your induction you will be introduced to the Career Progression Framework (CPF), which will help you to identify your areas of strength and any development needs.

Medway Public Health is looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic Senior Project Officer to work with businesses and workplaces to improve employee health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities in Medway.
The Healthy Workplace Programme helps Medway businesses of all sizes become healthier places to work and currently supports over 130 businesses across Medway and continues to engage more each year. The service supports the Public Health Directorate to achieve key national targets relating to cardiovascular disease prevention, reducing smoking prevalence, reducing alcohol harm and improving mental wellbeing. Crucially the service also supports businesses to maintain a healthy workforce and reduce absenteeism and presenteeism.
The postholder will engage new businesses, evaluate and measure outcomes for new and existing workplaces, driving performance to meet targets. They will act as an expert for employers on staff health and wellbeing, supporting theme to assess need and ensure appropriate training and policies are in place.
The postholder will work with a broad range of staff and stakeholders across Medway to promote broader Public Health initiatives and messaging. The role will require the ability to build positive working relationships with workplaces and wider stakeholders in the delivery of services. This will require strong influencing and negotiating skills.
The postholder will be responsible for monitoring data, identifying challenges or areas of underperformance with the ability to think quickly of solutions to ensure targets are met. The role will be working closely with the wider Public Health team.
The postholder will be responsible for encouraging and supporting the marketing of both the healthy workplace programme, including developing ideas and contributing to content. They will work closely with Medway Council’s Communications and Marketing team to ensure campaigns/posters/promotions are delivered in a timely manner and target the services audience including the use of social media.
Although this post involves hybrid working at Gun Wharf, and at home, the postholder will be required to travel further to businesses across Medway and must be able to do so in a timely manner. The role will require some evening and weekend work and the postholder must be a non-smoker with a full driving licence.

Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. This means that the salary you will be offered will be at level A unless, based on an assessment against the CPF criteria, you demonstrate that you are meeting the criteria of level B or C. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to C.
