Ancora House School (On-Site)
Casual, Flexible hours
MPR/UPR
Our School
Ancora House School is an outstanding alternative provision; we wish to recruit a dedicated team of specialist supply teachers of Mathematics, Sciences and English.
The opening of a new Day Ward for Eating Disorder patients has created vacancies for additional teachers with the requirement of education to be offered up to 5 mornings per week during term time. Whilst these positions are primarily based at the hospital site we are looking for flexibility to work across the wider school.
Ancora House School has two sites:
- Ancora House Inpatient and Eating Disorder Day Patient units are on the Countess of Chester Health Park, this site is for young people who have been admitted to the Adolescent Mental Health Unit or who may be a risk of admission.
- Castle Park, Frodsham hosts the community setting for day attenders who may have physical or mental health problems that prevent them from accessing their home school.
Our Young People
Our learners may present with a range of challenges including eating disorders, psychosis, low mood and anxiety disorders; often young people may have other diagnoses alongside these, they may include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Our Team
You will be working as part of a team of professionals who are dedicated to improving outcomes for learners who are at risk of disadvantage because of their difficulties.
You will have a high degree of emotional warmth and resilience coupled with subject expertise and a creative approach to teaching and learning.
Successful candidates will have a sound understanding of trauma informed practice alongside experience of supporting the learning of young people who have special educational needs related to social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
Our Curriculum
Most learners remain on roll with their home school, the aim of our intervention is to support learners to continue their studies so that they remain as closely aligned with their peers as possible. The vast majority of our learners are undertaking a course of study towards GCSE or A levels, a small number may be working towards other qualifications such as Functional Skills. Teaching and learning takes place in very small groups or in one to one sessions.
Application
The role will appeal to skilled and compassionate professionals who seek flexibility in their working week and the opportunity to enable young people to raise their aspirations and to succeed in spite of the challenges they are facing.
