At Epsom & Ewell, we aspire to deliver high quality services to our residents. We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of over 80,000 residents. We are investing in our future, increasing strategic capacity, and exploring new ways of working.

Our long-term vision for the Borough tells us where we want to be and how we’re going to get there. This new role will be crucial to delivering that vision and the aspirations of local people, as well as driving forward key deliverables from our Four Year and Recovery Plans.

The Community Development Officer is a new role which provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to work to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of the community, while enhancing the Borough, the Council, and their own professional portfolio.

We are seeking a motivated, organised, and goal-orientated individual to enable the organisation to deliver community-focused initiatives whilst supporting the overall vision of the Council.

Ideally you will have a sound understanding of the health and wellbeing issues impacting on diverse communities and have the ability to build and maintain purposeful relationships with key partners and residents. The ability to empathise and confidently communicate with a wide range of people is essential. Experience of drafting funding applications and coordinating and delivering varying projects that encompass physical activity, would be of an advantage.

You will work in a small team led by the Community Development Manager, in the development and delivery of projects and initiatives that meet the needs of the community, particularly for those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged.

If you are someone with experience of delivering community-based projects, alongside the ability to communicate confidently in a variety of settings, we’d love to hear from you. In return you will benefit from 24 days annual leave, subsidised gym membership, entitlement to join the local government pension scheme, and non-contributory life assurance. Initial and annual refresher training are provided to all staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional and committed team, and we look forward to receiving your application. If you would like an informal discussion, or to hear more about this role, please contact Rachel Epton on 01372 732168
