Ancora House School seeks to recruit a Deputy Headteacher to contribute to the leadership of our outstanding provision; this is a unique opportunity to work in a highly specialist environment alongside the clinical team, where you will have the opportunity to effect positive change for an extremely vulnerable group of learners.
Ancora House School has two sites:
- Ancora House Inpatient and Eating Disorder Day Patient units are on the Countess of Chester Health Park, this site is for young people who have been admitted to the Adolescent Mental Health Unit or who may be a risk of admission.
- Castle Park, Frodsham hosts the community setting for day attenders who may have physical or mental health problems that prevent them from accessing their home school.
Each site has a Deputy Headteacher to oversee the daily operational running of the setting.
The current vacancy for Deputy Headship is based on the hospital site and the successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day running of the education provision there; you will be joining an exemplary team of dedicated professionals.
Our Young People
Our learners may present with a range of challenges including eating disorders, psychosis, low mood and anxiety disorders; often young people may have other diagnoses alongside these, they may include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
The successful applicant has commitment and passion for the social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing of young people and the capacity to lead a dedicated team with ambition and vision; you have sound understanding of the potential impact of poor mental health on learners’ progress.
Substantial experience as part of a leadership team has provided you with the skills necessary to encourage and support the growth and development of the whole school; you have worked collaboratively with other agencies, professionals and families in a climate of mutual respect and you recognise the value of all stakeholders’ contributions.
You are a dedicated practitioner who understands the importance of strong relationships; you lead by example and you recognise the value of continuous professional development for all. As Deputy Headteacher, you can demonstrate a consistent, calm and reflective style of leadership and you have the resilience necessary to secure your own and the team’s wellbeing.
You have experience of working alongside families in complex situations and are used to considering creative and personalised approaches towards the co-production of plans.
Your diverse experience has equipped you with the highest level of safeguarding expertise and you are confident in the oversight of safeguarding across the school community.
You are committed to ensuring an ambitious curriculum offer exists for all learners including those with SEND; you believe in raising aspirations and supporting next steps through a robust transition curriculum.
