Full Time - 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our successful Recovery Team at Hastings Borough Council, collecting outstanding Council Tax income, Business Rates and BID Levies. 

This is a varied and interesting and we're looking for enthusiastic, driven team players who can help us carry out key responsibilities, including:

• Negotiating repayment arrangements with customers
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
• Deciding appropriate recovery action in line with legislation and council procedures

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience of Council Tax, Business Rates debt collection and Housing Benefits overpayments and recovery procedures with a sound knowledge of relevant legislation including exemptions and discounts.

• Knowledge and practical application of, or the ability to learn, revenues legislation.
• Excellent communication and customers services skills
• Ability to work methodically, accurately and to agreed deadlines.
• Ability to use a wide range of the IT packages (NEC/ Information@work)
• Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and managers.
• An interest in career development in Local Government.

This role requires a basic DBS check in line with BPSS requirements.
