Housing Options Team Leader
Full Time - 37 Hours per week

We are looking for a full-time Housing Options Team Leader to work at Castle Point Borough Council in the Housing Options Service who can:
- Contribute to achieving the Council’s corporate objectives and priorities.
- Contribute to the Council’s agenda for achieving continuous improvement in service delivery and any external performance assessments.
- Lead the team to provide the most effective advice to applicants on all the housing options available to them in order to prevent homelessness and if this cannot be achieved, ensure homelessness applications, under Part VII of the Housing Act, are taken within at the appropriate timescales inline within legislation, associated codes of guidance, relevant case law and the Council’s agreed policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Council’s Homelessness Strategy.
- Actively support the prevention of homelessness by providing a comprehensive housing options and advice service.
- Lead and support the Housing options team to ensure all statutory obligations are met
- Assess complex homeless applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 Part 7 as amended by the Homeless Reduction Act 2017.
- Participate in a duty rota to assess “Homeless tonight” approaches and progress accordingly in line with legislation and/or homeless code of guidance.
- Provide support and guidance to all officers within the housing options team.
- Provide an out of hours standby service during evenings, weekends, and public holidays on a rota basis.
You will have the following key skills, abilities and experience:
- Knowledge of Housing Reduction Act 2007
- Knowledge of Civica (Abritas) System
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal with both Members of the public and colleagues
- To be able to work from the main office 60% of time (After a trial/training period)
- Excellent analytical and letter writing skills
- Experience working in a supervisory role
New housing legislation requires this role to have a Level 3 Housing qualification or working towards
