Required from 01/09/2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Receptionist based at the school's Leasowe Campus to support our expanding staff team and increasing pupil numbers. We are seeking a professional, customer-focused individual who will complement and support the school team.

As the first point of contact for parents and visitors, both by phone and face to face, this is an extremely important position. The Receptionist will deal with a wide range of enquiries, including:

Welcoming visitors to the school
Answering incoming calls
Handling incoming and outgoing post
Maintaining a professional reception environment at all times
Supporting with administrative tasks as required

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working as a receptionist, preferably within a client-facing or customer service environment. You will have excellent communication skills, both in person and over the telephone, be well presented, and act as an ambassador for the school.

Your knowledge, skills and experience are important, but so too will be your emotional intelligence and resilience. You will be empathetic and compassionate, while also able to set clear boundaries and expectations. Expectations are high, and you will face challenges from all directions. You will be expected to meet these in line with the schools vision.

The Observatory School is an extraordinary place to work. To meet our team's expectations, you will be an exceptional individual with a strong and proven track record. In return, we offer the opportunity to work with some of the area's most remarkable children and a resilient, cohesive, and highly supportive staff team where no two days are the same.

If you feel you would like to embark on this journey, we encourage you to visit the school prior to application. Visits can be arranged by emailing Jordan Green - School Business Manager at businessmanager@theobservatoryschool.wirral.sch.uk.

Due to a high volume of applications, the school will operate a rolling interview process. Candidates may be invited to interview upon receipt of their application if the essential criteria are met. Fully completed application forms should be accompanied by a letter of application (no longer than two sides of A4) and submitted to recruitment@theobservatoryschool.wirral.sch.uk.
