The role will involve a broad range of investigative activity including covert surveillance with the use of regional level 2 intelligence assets. The areas of crime investigated are subject to the Regional Control Strategy.</p><p><strong>Overview of the role:</strong></p><ul>\n<li>You will be responsible for participating in operations led by the police and other agencies, working within appropriate authority limits and whilst acting in accordance with legislation and procedure.</li>\n<li>Investigate problems, targets and offences – act as ‘officer in the case’, ensuring the investigation is carried out thoroughly and expeditiously in accordance with investigation policy and relevant legal requirements.</li>\n<li>Interview suspects in accordance with legislation and the ‘Practical Guide to investigative interviewing’, as well as preparing and presenting case files, working with the Crown Prosecution Service to progress the case.</li>\n</ul><p><strong>Due to the nature of the role, candidates will need to be able to travel throughout the UK when required.</strong></p><p><strong>Security Requirements - </strong>This post requires regular access to sensitive material and applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo enhanced security clearance before taking up the post.</p><p>The material may be of sensitivity to the UK and may therefore be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances, dual nationals (of which one element is British) may be granted access. However, if potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed, the post holder will not be permitted access to the systems or material required for the role and will not therefore be able to perform their duties.
