Employer Skills Broker - Construction

Employer Skills Broker - Construction

Apprenticeships
£36,569 - £42,978 per year

About the Role

Fixed Term Until 31st March 2029

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is delivering a DWP Construction Skills Grant and a Construction Workforce Development Unit pilot (CWDU) which will seek to address the recruitment and skills needs of the Construction sector across the Liverpool City Region. Located within the Investment & Delivery Directorate - Employer Brokerage Service and working closely with Employment Officers for Construction, other Skills Brokers, trade associations and partners such as CITB, ECA and local stakeholders, the post holder will identify and engage with local Construction employers in order to access opportunities for LCR residents to move into Construction roles.

Primary goals under both the Grant and the CWDU include: identifying current and future demand for particular occupations, their volumes and timings, as well as providing support to employers and individuals entering the sector by bringing together the multiplicity of funding and thereby better supporting the ability for residents to enter and stay in the sector.

Through focused and coordinated activity, the programme will align with existing employer engagement teams’ work and networks, maximising local relationships, avoiding duplication and maximising impact within each of our LAs to the benefit of residents and employers.

About the person

The role requires an individual who is proactive in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly SMEs and micro-businesses within the sector, to promote opportunities for recruiting unemployed residents across the Liverpool City Region (LCR). The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of public funding streams and be able to clearly communicate the range of recruitment incentives available to employers recruiting into construction roles.

Team members should be self-starting, collaborative and ambitious, offer fresh ideas, and who demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based policymaking and investment, and a determination to deliver for the people of the Liverpool City Region.
