Additional Needs Teaching Assistants – Grade 4
The opportunity has arisen for the appointment of additional needs teaching assistants here at Edleston Primary school to start on the 1st of September 2025.
We are looking for an outstanding enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to work in our lovely school. The ideal candidate will be patient, kind and compassionate SEND teaching assistant, who can provide 1:1 support for a pupil(s) with additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children working as part of a strong and supportive team.
This may primarily be in our Reception, but could be in other year groups within school, depending on your experience. Please be clear on your experience in your application.
Working closely with the SENCo, teachers and external professionals this teaching assistant will:
- be compassionate patient, nurturing and committed to supporting children with SEND
- be a great communicator and team player with a positive and proactive approach
- have experience in working with children particularly those with autism/global delay/ADHD
- be passionate about inclusion and the power of education to transform lives
- be flexible, adaptable and ready to take on new challenges with enthusiasm
- have an understanding and/or experience of de-escalation and engagement techniques to support challenging behaviour
- be prepared to support children with intimate care
- establish supportive and positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and staff
- have high expectations of themselves and of others, demonstrating professional conduct at all times and have the ability to contribute positively to an effective team
- be energetic, positive and have a good sense of humour

Essential Qualifications
- NVQ level 2 or above qualification - appropriate to the post (or equivalent).
- GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language
Essential Experience
- Experience of working/caring with children with an EHCP or SEND on a one-to-one basis.
- Experience of working in a relevant classroom environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- First aid training
- Sensory Training
- Positive handling training
- ASD/ADHD training
Desirable Experience
- Experience of delivering interventions for pupils with SEND
