Please specify your preferred location at application stage. <br> <strong>Salary: </strong>£12.21 - £12.88 per hour <br> <strong>Hours:</strong> Opportunities for 5, 7.5 or 10 hours per week term-time; in the evenings. <br> <strong>Contract:</strong> Permanent <br><br><strong>Are you passionate about helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to get the best start in life?</strong><br><br><strong>Are you energetic and creative with skills and knowledge to share?</strong><br><br><strong>Our excellent training and ongoing support will turn your passion into expertise that can change lives.</strong><br><br><b>About the Team</b><br><br>You will be in one of the 10 Services for Young People district teams and will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the prospects of young people.<br><br>Working with young people locally aged 11 to 17 in groups of 12-25, many of whom face challenges in their home life, education or local community, you'll help us deliver targeted prevention and early interventions, informal education opportunities and develop their skills. <br><br>Supported by qualified and experienced staff, you will be a key member of our team supporting the delivery of a diverse range of curriculum programmes including independent living skills and emotional wellbeing, to supporting young people in staying away from crime, anti-social behaviour and offering guidance on relationships and sexual health.<br><br><b>About the role</b><br><br>Our sessions run for 2.5 hours and typically evenings Monday - Saturday during term time which depending on the weekly hours you can commit to could be the following:<ul>\n<li>5 hours = 2 sessions a week</li>\n<li>7.5 hours = 3 sessions a week</li>\n<li>10 hours = 4 sessions a week</li>\n</ul>We're looking for people from a wide variety of backgrounds who have worked with Children and/or Young People in a voluntary or paid capacity.<br><br>Additionally, we are keen to hear from those who have skills to share in areas such as sports, outdoor learning, art & crafts, media, music, health as a tool to establish a relationship and engagement with our young people.<br><br>If you're passionate about working with young people, keen to learn, have good communication skills and are a team player, you'll fit right in to our friendly, supportive and collaborative working environment.<br><br>Whilst a driving license is not essential some of our locations can be a little challenging on public transport so a car and license would be preferrable.<br> <br> In return, amongst many benefits and training Hertfordshire can offer you, we will offer you opportunities to develop your youth work practice.<br><br><b>About you</b><br><br><strong>Essential:</strong><ul>\n<li>Willingness and ability to work regular weekly evening sessions including Fridays.</li>\n<li>Having worked or currently working in a role with children and/of Young People (paid or voluntary capacity)</li>\n<li>Ability to develop professional relationships with young people and vulnerable young adults.</li>\n<li>Good knowledge, interests, skills or training that would enable you to contribute to positive informal educational activities with young people and vulnerable young adults.</li>\n<li> Understanding of the key issues which young people and vulnerable young adults face and the ability to identify their needs. </li>\n<li>Experience of working as a member of a team and evidence of successful contributions you have made to a team's work.</li>\n<li> Willingness and ability to complete the compulsory Certificate in Youth Work, a commitment to undertake ongoing professional development and to put what you learn into practice. </li>\n<li> An understanding of equal opportunities and knowledge of how you would put that into practice. </li>\n</ul><strong>Desirable:</strong><ul>\n<li>Skills in areas such as sports, outdoor learning, art & crafts, media, music, health</li>\n<li>Full UK driving licence & regular access to a vehicle.</li>\n</ul><br><br>Questions?
