Your day as a Duty Operations Assistant could involve welcoming visitors to our community centres, conducting health and safety checks, or carrying out light cleaning and administrative tasks. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our community spaces are vibrant, safe, and accessible, supporting a wide range of activities for residents. What you’ll do You will be responsible for front-of-house operations, greeting visitors with a friendly and helpful attitude. You’ll manage bookings, process invoices, and handle purchasing requests. Alongside these duties, you will also ensure the smooth running of our centres by conducting safety inspections, reporting repairs, and making sure spaces are well-maintained. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers to ensure community events run smoothly, and you will handle all tasks with great attention to detail, including updating customer records and maintaining data protection standards. What you’ll need <ul><li>Demonstrable experience in managing data accurately and efficiently. Prior use of IT systems, including Microsoft Office.</li><li>Proven experience in customer service, administration and health &amp; safety in the workplace.</li><li>Comfortable communicating with a wide range of audiences in a busy, people-focused environment.</li><li>Flexibility, you’ll work split shifts and be available for some evening and weekend shifts, sometimes over multiple sites. </li><li>Proactive, well-organised, and take pride in providing excellent customer service.</li><li>Understanding of Health and Safety and previous experience on keeping an environment clear from hazards. </li><li>Compassion, patience, and the ability to adapt to different situations. </li></ul>Why Join Us? Are you passionate about empowering communities and making a real difference in people’s lives? Brent Council is looking for a dynamic and motivated&nbsp;Community Development and Engagement Officer&nbsp;to join our Housing Community Engagement team.
In this exciting role, you’ll lead and support a wide range of community engagement and consultation initiatives across one of London’s most diverse boroughs. From organising&nbsp;Brent Housing Events&nbsp;to promoting resident participation through the&nbsp;our platforms and visiting resident associations assisting them in the community, hosting panels, consultations and mystery shopping &nbsp;you’ll be at the heart of shaping how we connect with our communities.
Key Responsibilities include to:

<li>Deliver inclusive and high-quality engagement activities across the borough.</li>
<li>Organise and manage community events, including logistics and promotion.</li>
<li>Support and guide council teams in delivering meaningful consultations.</li>

<li>Act as a key liaison with community groups and voluntary organisations.</li>

The Person
We are looking for someone with proven experience in community engagement, outreach, or public consultation. You will have the ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends and strong organisational and communication skills. You will also be a collaborative team player with a passion for diversity and inclusion and be confident in using digital tools and platforms like Microsoft Office and MS Teams.
