About the role

We are looking for a new NNC Active Ageing Lead to develop and embed a system-wide Active Ageing programme across the three priority places in North Northants, Queensway Wellingborough, Lodge Park and Kingswood Corby, with a specific focus on menopause-informed interventions. This role will drive participation, improve physical and mental wellbeing, strengthen prevention pathways, and develop a sustainable, community-led workforce to ensure older adults remain active, confident, and connected. The post will also deliver the North Northamptonshire (NN) Active Communities Strategy actions, and its outcomes to ensure opportunities are provided for the community to move more and be active.

What will you be doing?

As the post holder you will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of Active Ageing and menopause-informed activities across priority communities by embedding older people and menopause-informed interventions into existing Active Ageing pathways, ensuring accessibility and cultural relevance.

You will be promoting everyday movement opportunities in parks, community venues, and warm spaces, aligned with This Girl Can principles and recruiting, training, and supporting staff, volunteers, and community leaders to deliver Active Ageing and menopause-informed programmes confidently.

You will represent NNC at meetings with partners and present successes and results to the funders Northamptonshire Sport and Sport England.

Most importantly you will work to build and maintain strong relationships with residents, community groups, health and care services, leisure providers, and local stakeholders and strengthen referral routes between community activity, social groups, and health and care services.

About you

We are looking for someone who has a good standard of education and has experience of working with adults and older people, particularly those facing barriers such as low confidence, long term health conditions or complex needs. To be a successful applicant you will have experience of working with multiple partners and you should have a good understanding of sport, physical activity and community development, including volunteering pathways,

You will also have had experience in coordinating community, fitness or sport programmes including planning and monitoring and also in managing and scheduling courses, workshops or events. A strong knowledge of safeguarding, and risk management would also be beneficial.

You may be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion and we offer a flexible approach to working with the opportunity to work from home for some of the working week.
