You will contribute to a fair and effective process for dealing with complaints about members' conduct and help shape ethical governance across the Council.</p>\n<p></p>\n<h2>About you</h2>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>The Ideal Candidate Will:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring a <strong>diverse perspective</strong> through professional and/or personal experience that differs from current members.</li>\n<li>Demonstrate <strong>strong analytical skills</strong>, clear reasoning, and the ability to make balanced judgements quickly.</li>\n<li>Possess <strong>independence of mind, objectivity and impartiality</strong> in decision-making.</li>\n<li>\n<strong>Reside within the district</strong> and have a commitment to public service.</li>\n<li>Be committed to the <strong>principles of public life</strong> and high standards of probity and integrity.</li>\n<li>Have <strong>excellent interpersonal and communication skills</strong>, with the ability to work cooperatively in a committee setting, applying tact and diplomacy to sensitive matters.</li>\n<li>Be able and willing to <strong>attend meetings</strong> of the Committee and its Sub-Committees as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable (Not Essential) Attributes:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience handling <strong>adversarial or complaints-based matters</strong>, and/or working with or on committees.</li>\n<li>\n<strong>Awareness of the political process</strong> and how local government operates.</li>\n<li>Familiarity with <strong>meeting procedures and protocols</strong>.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Time Commitment:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>Standards Committee</strong> meetings: 2 per year (normally 6:00 PM)</li>\n<li>\n<strong>Sub-Committee</strong> meetings: As required, may be held during the day</li>\n<li>\n<strong>Full Council</strong> meetings: Attendance on a rota basis (6 per year)</li>\n</ul>\n<p></p>\n<h2>Application Process</h2>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Interviews for this position are due to take place week beginning 23rd June 2025.</strong></p>\n<p>Please submit a <strong>CV and a supporting statement (no more than 2 A4 pages)</strong> explaining how you meet the essential and desirable criteria listed above.
