This is a new, exciting and varied role with responsibility for technical training and capability management across the IPO’s Services directorate. The role holder will establish/manage a ‘Services Academy’ for technical and professional training and development, with initial focus on Secure Patents (including the Private Applicant Unit and Examination Support teams) i.e. circa 550+ staff with differing technical training/development needs. It is anticipated that the role will evolve to encompass trade mark and design registration services and copyright operations.
Technical training for Secure Patents includes both structured and informal technical/legal training, and bespoke training for internal systems/processes. Core skills, management, and Civil Service wide training is delivered through our in-house Talent and Learning team.
The purpose of the role is to assess the effectiveness, inclusivity, and efficiency of our technical training/development, whilst also considering scalability and sustainability for a growing directorate. The role holder will be expected to manage the design and delivery of technical training/development programmes (including both existing and new materials) for multiple roles; champion our professions; provide guidance, and support to our people; and support our leaders &amp; managers, and their teams, by working alongside our Talent and Learning team/HR Business Partners to identify suitable internal/external training and coaching and to create career pathways that value breadth and depth of experience.&nbsp; The role holder will share our commitment to strengthen our talent pipelines and improve workforce agility and adaptability.
Reporting to a Head of Patents, the role holder will provide matrix management to technical trainers/programme managers to deliver a diverse technical training portfolio.
We need someone: who can see and influence the bigger picture, ensure that informed decisions are made and know when/how to engage in the detail; who can work closely with colleagues across the IPO sharing knowledge and best practice; and has commercial awareness, great stakeholder skills, and a real people focus on personal development.
Main duties consist of but are not limited to:

<li>Working closely with the Services leadership team, contributing to decisions around development of our current and future workforce and ensuring that the training and development offered is adaptable and scalable</li>
<li>Work closely with the Talent and Learning team and Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Academy to align delivery and approaches</li>
<li>Work with HR Business Partners to inform strategic workforce planning activities.</li>

The role is initially for up to two years Fixed Term Appointment with the possibility of permanency. The successful person will be a member of the Learning Model working group.
Working Style
This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff are currently expected to spend at least 20% of their time working onsite from one of our offices. This role is based in our&nbsp;Newport Office.

This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the core applications are reviewed and continually improved.
You will need the appetite to learn new technologies and methodologies for delivering high quality IT services. In this role you will work within a multi-disciplined squad using several technologies to build enterprise grade services. You will be expected to be proactive and take accountability for the squad assigned deliveries. The role will also require the investigation, diagnosis and fix of any system issues. A Senior Developer is expected to contribute to the technical strategy for the department.

Weekend Community Meals Delivery Officers

About UsNorth Somerset Council’s Community Meals Service are looking for Cooks/Kitchen Assistants for casual hours to cover cook’s duties during periods of leave to reheat pre -prepared meals and make sandwiches to be delivered 7 days a week to vulnerable people. There is a need to cover across two kitchens for North Somerset Council, one in the South of North Somerset (Weston based and cover of surrounding villages) and the North of North Somerset (Clevedon based and cover of surrounding villages).The RoleExperience required within a kitchen environment particularly with cooking and freezer temperatures. Training will be provided by our on-site cooks in the use of the kitchen equipment. You must be willing to train in Environmental Health regulations required in a kitchen environment, including keeping daily recordings of temperatures and in stock control.Sandwiches should be freshly made each day for teas while waiting for ovens to heat. Food is then loaded into insulated boxes for the team of Community Meals drivers to take out for delivery. First deliveries start at 11.30. You will be supported by a Team Manager and the Community Meals Business Support Team.Our kitchens operate 7 days a week over 52 weeks except Christmas Day and New Years Day when alternative provision will be provided. Sharing home, family and community lifeThe South East Wales Shared Lives Scheme offers a unique community based service for adults who need care and support in Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen and Rhondda Cynon Taff.&nbsp; Individuals are matched with compatible Shared Lives carers who offer to share their home, family and community lives.Shared Lives carers are carefully selected, assessed, trained and supported by the scheme. They come from all walks of life and choose to care for a wide variety of reasons. Shared Lives carers are united through their enthusiasm, commitment, and positive motivation to make a real difference in people’s lives.The flexibility of Shared Lives means that carers can provide support for lots of different people in a wide range of situations.
