Working with the Service Owner, the Lead Product Manager will make sure that the service provides the best possible experience for our customers and users prioritising the work against a product backlog and roadmap on a value basis.
This role sits at the heart of IPO’s transformation programme, supporting the delivery of our live Patents service as part of Phase 1, while driving forward the redesign of Trade Marks and Designs services in Phase 2. The successful candidate will operate across both delivery landscapes—ensuring continuity and improvement in live services, while shaping future-state design for services yet to be transformed.
Working Style

For everyone.<h1>​</h1><h1>Background to the Project</h1>In 2022, SafeLives and ASSIST began the Domestic Abuse Court Advocacy project, funded by Scottish Government’s Victim Centred Approach Fund (VCAF), to ultimately ensure more victims of domestic abuse have a safe and informed journey through the criminal justice system. Specifically, the project aims to build consistency in how domestic abuse court advocacy provision is delivered across Scotland via creation of Domestic Abuse Court Advocacy (DACA) Standards, establishment of an accreditation framework for DACA services, and delivery of a new Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA)-accredited training block on specialist domestic abuse court advocacy. ​Now in its fourth year, the project team have already created Domestic Abuse Court Advocacy standards for Scotland and developed accreditation and mentoring frameworks for domestic abuse services across Scotland that provide court advocacy to their clients. A new block of the well-established Independent Domestic Abuse Advocacy (Idaa) training block, in partnership with ASSIST and Scottish Women’s Aid, has also been developed. Using the new framework with frontline services you will take the project into its next stage. ​You will engage and consult with domestic abuse court advocacy services, other domestic abuse services, criminal and civil justice partners, Scottish Government and victims and survivors (including the SafeLives Authentic Voice panel). ​This work will also entail working closely with Idaa delivery partners at ASSIST and Scottish Women’s Aid, the Scottish Qualifications Authority, to ensure ongoing delivery of the additional Idaa training relevant to DACA, as well as a wide range of colleagues within SafeLives and across Scotland, keeping the work of DACA high on the national agenda.​ The work is also linked to a broader set of work across the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector in Scotland that seeks to galvanise whole system improvement for those experiencing domestic abuse. The Role
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Social Workers to join the Kinship Team within our Fostering Service. The Kinship Team are responsible for assessing potential Kinship Carers in addition to providing them with support and supervision in order to meet the needs of the children in their care.
In this role, you will provide support to ensure that our Kinship Carers meet the National Minimum Standards. The Social Worker’s role is to ensure that Kinship Carers are supported to provide a high standard of care to our most vulnerable children. &nbsp;&nbsp;We are looking for an experienced Social Worker who is able to balance the need to challenge with the need to provide support. We work with extended families to enable them to support the children that they care for, which we know can at times be difficult for them.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Social Worker on the Kinship Team, you will be expected to undertake the following:

<li>Assess potential Kinship Carers suitability to foster, or Special Guardians suitability to care for children until adulthood.</li>
<li>Complete regular home visits including unannounced visits during and following the assessment process.</li>
<li>Regular communication with everyone involved in the child or young person’s life including meetings, reviews and information sharing.</li>
<li>Support Kinship Carers to attend meetings, help with their report writing and ensure that they keep appropriate records.</li>
<li>Work with the child(ren)’s Social Worker and Kinship Carers to manage and maintain family time between the children and their parents.</li>
<li>Support the carers to access relevant training opportunities each carer may need.</li>
<li>Support carers to meet the national minimum standards and regulatory requirements which are needed to become a Kinship Carer.</li>
<li>Write balanced reports including annual foster carer reviews, present reviews at fostering panel with carers and contribute to writing standards of care/allegation reports when necessary.</li>
<li>Offer practical and emotional support to Kinship Carers.</li>
</ul>

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. 

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

This is a unique opportunity to lead on a vital area of work that supports healthier relationships and better outcomes for children and young people.As our RPC Coordinator, you’ll play a central role in shaping and delivering our local strategy to reduce the impact of parental conflict. You’ll work across services and sectors—bringing together professionals from health, education, social care, the police, and the voluntary sector—to ensure a joined-up, evidence-based approach to supporting families.A key part of your role will be planning and delivering training for multi-agency staff, including specialist sessions on Children Affected by Parental Imprisonment (CAPO). You’ll also lead and support Champions groups, helping embed both RPC and CAPO awareness and practice across North Somerset.You’ll be a trusted source of guidance for practitioners, offering support and tools to help them work confidently with families experiencing conflict. You’ll also deliver evidence-based parenting programmes for separated parents, helping them build healthier co-parenting relationships.Monitoring and evaluation will be part of your day-to-day, ensuring that the work is making a measurable difference—and that we’re always learning and improving. There is the possibility the funding will continue past March 2026 but this has not yet been finalised.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Carry out the duties and responsibilities under a range of legislation</li><li>Lead the development and implementation of the local Reducing Parental Conflict strategy.</li><li>Align RPC work with wider family support, early help, and safeguarding priorities.</li><li>Partnership Development</li><li>Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, including health, Police, education, social care, and the voluntary sector.</li><li>Facilitate multi-agency collaboration to ensure a joined-up approach to supporting families.</li><li>Workforce Development provide training and toolkits around RPC and CAPO</li><li>Deliver training for practitioners on identifying and addressing parental conflict.</li><li>Support the embedding of evidence-based tools and approaches across services.</li><li>Awareness Raising</li><li>Promote understanding of the impact of parental conflict on children’s outcomes.</li><li>Develop and disseminate resources and guidance for professionals and families.</li><li>Monitoring and Evaluation</li><li>Collect and analyse data to assess the effectiveness of interventions and inform continuous improvement.</li><li>Report on outcomes and contribute to local and national evaluation frameworks.</li><li>Practice Support</li><li>Provide advice and consultation to practitioners working with families experiencing conflict.</li><li>Support the development of pathways and referral mechanisms for targeted support.</li><li>Contribute to the development of local policies and procedures related to family support and relationship conflict.</li><li>Ensure compliance with national guidance and best practice.</li></ul>This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.Work StyleAt North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles.
