The Resources and Business Improvement directorate is led by Dianne Tramner It is responsible for: People Function, Facilities Management, Digital Experience Unit and Technology Group, Information Governance &amp; Assurance, Executive Support Team and leadership of all our shared services across the GLA Group.
About the team
The Information Governance &amp; Assurance (IG&amp;A) team supports the GLA in managing its data, ensuring its integrity and &nbsp;security is paramount, supports the Authority in its compliance with legislation, to include Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), records management, information security and data protection law. The team also provides assurance to the business that the information it holds is securely processed.
There is the need to improve Knowledge and Information management strategy within the GLA – to effectively and efficiently improve where and how we store information that is readily accessible and central to policy teams and projects. This will ensure that project delivery and management decisions run smoothly, with information stored in a structured manner and aligned to retention period.&nbsp;&nbsp;
About the role&nbsp;
The team is looking to recruit a dedicated and skilled knowledge and information expert who will play a key role in contributing to the development and implementation of the GLA’s knowledge management strategy, which includes leading on developing a central records repository, reviewing policies, ensuring these are applied across the business and to the central repository. The individual must be capable of hitting the ground running, understand the GLA ways of working, working closely with the information governance manager/DPO and be willing to deputise for them.
What your day will look like
The GLA plans to implement and have in place an electronic document and records management system. This system will ensure information related to the main policy areas such as housing, environment, and programme delivery teams such as Grants, policy teams, Decisions, HR, is stored in a structured filing format that’s centrally accessible to the rest of the business. This post will lead on this exciting project working closely together with the IG&amp;A Manager, IG&amp;A team and other relevant units.
Represent the team and actively participate in the Knowledge and Assurance Working Group (KIAWG) meeting, and be the group’s secretariat.
Oversee and advise on the corporate information asset register, leading on the bi-annual review of the register and advising information asset owners, administrators.
Provide ongoing advice to the IG Officers with access to information requests, to include advising on complex requests, DSAR, internal review and ICO Complaints.
Provide robust training to staff including using available tools for awareness raising and highlighting our responsibilities under various information governance related legislation; contribute to the development of training slides with current IG trend, issues
Provide advice and support to policy and project leads, sometimes carrying out data protection impact assessments where personal data is processed – highlighting areas for potential high privacy risk and advising on appropriate mitigation, ensure data sharing agreements are in place where necessary.&nbsp;
Providing advice, guidance document and policy around information management and knowledge-based process.&nbsp;
Skills, knowledge and experience&nbsp;
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
An understanding of public sector information governance and assurance issues. The postholder will support the IG manager/Data Protection Officer (DPO) in providing assurance to the business with compliance for the relevant information governance legislation.
A strong background experience in information management, or a related field. With certification in knowledge management, data protection or information governance, e.g., BCS, CIPP/E, CIPM, PC.dp, PC.foi, PC.rm; Strong understanding of data protection and information security regulations. Basic understanding of cyber security trends and the assurance for risks to the business.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work together and as part of a team as well as independently with some line management experience. A commitment to being available in the office 2-3 days a week.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge management tools. Skills in understanding, interpreting and analysing detailed information. Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues to non-technical people.&nbsp;
 The following are desirable skills and qualifications

<li>A bachelor’s degree in information management, library science, or information security or similar field.</li>
<li>Knowledge of project management methodologies.</li>
<li>Experience with EDRMS and/or content management systems (CMS).</li>

This role is in the Housing Strategy and Policy team, which is responsible for developing the Mayor’s housing policies. The remit of the Housing Strategy and Policy team covers a broad range of policy areas including new supply, homelessness, rough sleeping, building safety and private rented sector policy. In this post you will be working alongside colleagues to formulate policy to deliver on the Mayor’s priorities and to ensure these policies are informed by sound evidence.

The position is responsible for a priority Mayoral area, leading on policy to support the supply of new homes, in particular through the Mayor’s housing funding programmes. Ideally you will have experience working in this area, but if not, you’ll be able to evidence a track record of getting to grips with new policy briefs and stakeholders quickly. You’ll be responsible for helping to implement the Mayor’s 2024 election manifesto, tackling London’s housing crisis through exciting projects and providing expert advice and guidance. The successful candidate will manage a small team of senior policy officers and officers. You will work closely with officers across London boroughs and social housing providers as well as officials at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. About the team
The Skills &amp; Employment unit is responsible for overseeing adult skills delivery in London following delegation of the Adult Skills Fund from the DfE to the GLA in 2019 and the introduction of Skills Bootcamps in 2022.
About the role
Sitting in the wider Funding Policy and Systems Team, the role will support the Funding Policy side of the team to ensure that the Adult Skills Fund (ASF) allocations are timely and accurate, lead the ASF reconciliation end of year process and any business growth processes stemming. The successful candidate will support the Senior Skills Funding Policy Manager in drafting Mayoral Board papers, ASF guidance documents such as the ASF Funding Rules and Rates and the design and successful management of any ASF competitive grant-award process.
What your day will look like
<ul>
<li>Lead work to ensure that the ASF funds are allocated in a timely and accurate manner, lead on annual ASF reconciliation process and manage any subsequent business growth funding process.</li>
<li>Draft relevant Mayoral Board papers in line with the governance process and the Skills and Employment assurance framework, draft and publish the ASF Funding Rules and other guidance documents as required to reflect any GLA/DfE changes.</li>
<li>Provide support in the drafting and design of ASF tender documents, manage the successful completion of competitive grant award process where necessary.</li>
<li>Provide support and working collaboratively with members of the other teams within the Skills and Employment Unit such as the Delivery team, the Policy team and the Programmes Management Office team.</li>
<li>Provide emotionally intelligent and inclusive line management and support to the FPS Systems team during a period of change.</li>
</ul>
Skills, knowledge and experience
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
<ul>
<li>Demonstrate experience of computer literacy including excel spreadsheets and presentation software, providing data analysis and technical advice across a range of adult skills funds whilst promoting a positive team culture that respects diversity and deals with barriers to inclusion.</li>
<li>Have, or be able to rapidly develop, an expert knowledge of adult skills funded programmes including funding rules, funding rates and formula.</li>
<li>An understanding of skills and employment priorities in the Capital specifically in relation to funding systems design.</li>
<li>Experience of working with procurement and / or legal colleagues in order to design and implement skills or employment programmes is desirable.</li>
<li>A successful track record, in a high-profile organisation, of influencing policy, especially skills or funding policy.&nbsp;Experience of working with the ILR or similar datasets is desirable.</li>
