About the role
As a key member of the Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) & Hate Crime Team, you will play a vital role in promoting community safety and enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors in Northampton. This is a proactive and highly visible role focused on tackling anti-social behaviour and enforcing the Northampton Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).
You will work collaboratively with the Community Safety Team, Northamptonshire Police, and a range of internal and external partners to reduce incidents of ASB and PSPO breaches through early intervention, intelligence sharing, and coordinated action. Your presence in Northampton Town Centre will serve as a visible deterrent to those engaging in disruptive or unlawful behaviour.
Key responsibilities include patrolling designated areas, engaging with the public, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), and supporting prosecutions where necessary. You will be expected to build strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders, using a problem-solving approach to address recurring issues and support long-term solutions.
This role is ideal for individuals who are community-focused, confident in public engagement, and committed to making a positive impact on public safety and cohesion in Northampton.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check.
