The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced worker to join our Fostering Team.
This individual will need to be skilled, organised and passionate about building relationships and developing our foster carers to meet the Fostering National Minimum Standards. This post is to cover maternity leave for our current Mockingbird and Training Coordinator position for a 1 year fixed term contract.

Key Responsibilities:

<li>As a training coordinator the applicant will develop, provide details, and coordinate training programmes within the fostering service delivery in line with the national minimum standards and statutory requirements. This will include technical support, monitoring training programmes and the evaluation of training with professionals for identified carers within fostering.</li>
<li>As a Mockingbird coordinator, the applicant will have a good understanding of the mockingbird scheme. They will collect and collate Mockingbird data for fidelity reviews and have oversight of hub carer support with the liaison worker and fostering team manager. The role will require an applicant who is experienced in managing data, creating spreadsheets and have good organisational skills. It will be important for them to have good interpersonal skills, be able to network with other professionals and be part of the team by supporting colleagues and foster carers.</li>

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. 

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

This position is currently based at the Town Hall in Weston Super Mare.

Join us and contribute to making a positive impact on our community.The RoleThe Natural Environment Team are responsible for managing North Somerset Council-owned trees and the rights of way network, responding to planning applications and delivering the Council’s Green Infrastructure Strategy.In this role, you will primarily provide responses to planning applications, compile reports (including the completion of Habitat Regulation Assessments), provide planning advice and advise colleagues on the Council’s major projects. You will also monitor the delivery of biodiversity net gain (BNG) on Council-owned land, review BNG monitoring reports and review applications for BNG sites. The council actively supports the ongoing professional development of its ecologists in accordance with CIEEM standards, including the development of experience required for species licencing.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Provision of professional ecological advice to the Development Management Planning service via planning application and pre-application consultation responses.</li><li>Completion of Habitat Regulations Assessments for applicable planning applications and consultation with Natural England.</li><li>Review of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) submissions including Habitat Monitoring and Management Plans, BNG Metrics, Biodiversity Gain Plans and monitoring reports.</li><li>Provision of pre-application advice and ecology advice on internal Council projects.</li></ul>Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.This position is based at our Town Hall offices in Weston-super-Mare.Essential Criteria:<ul><li>Vocational qualification or experience to level 4 or above relevant to the Ecology and the Natural Environment field.</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of ecological planning issues.</li><li>A good understanding of protected species, particularly bats.</li><li>Experience undertaking Habitat Regulations Assessments.</li><li>A broad working knowledge of wildlife and the relevant legislation and policy in place to protect and enhance it.</li><li>Ability to manage/organise own work.</li></ul>Desirable Criteria:<ul><li>Experience undertaking Habitat Regulations Assessments.</li><li>Familiarity with biodiversity net gain.</li><li>Knowledge of the North Somerset and Mendip Bats Special Area of Conservation (SAC) Guidance on Development: Supplementary Planning Document and the associated Habitat Evaluation Protocol (HEP)</li><li>Phase 1 extended ecological surveys &amp; UK Habitat Mapping and Classification.</li><li>Arboricultural surveys.</li><li>Member of CIEEM (or eligible)</li></ul>What We OfferAt North Somerset Council, we value our employees and provide a supportive and inclusive work environment.
