Adur &amp; Worthing Facilities team is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Council's three principal administrative buildings and we are seeking to recruit an adaptable and physically fit individual to join our team. The Facilities team are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Council's administrative buildings including the health and safety and security of the buildings as well as staff and visitors.
In this role, you will principally be based at The Shoreham Centre but will also be required to work at the Councils offices in Worthing on a regular basis. In order to ensure that the Council’s premises are staffed at all times, throughout our operating hours, the Facilities team operates a shift pattern throughout the working day (Monday – Friday, please see Job Description/Person Specification for further details). Occasional out of hours and weekend working will be required for which overtime at the applicable rate is payable.
In this role, you will undertake a wide range of duties including portering, reception duties, distribution of mail and items between buildings, civic events and relocation of furniture and other items.&nbsp;
Summary of duties:

<li>Undertaking the distribution of mail and other items including equipment within and between the council’s premises.</li>

We are seeking a Mechanical &amp; Electrical and Lifts Contracts Manager to join our Compliance service within Building Services of the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services Directorate. The role will have responsibility for managing strategic Term Service Contracts in relation to mechanical and electrical repair, servicing, and compliance activities and lifts repairs, servicing and compliance activities. Specifically, the role will have responsibility for the contract management and service delivery of our Gas Servicing and Repairs contract in relation to our HRA stock of 17,000 dwellings and commercial mechanical and electrical repairs, servicing and compliance contract in relation to our HRA stock and corporate assets with Landlord repair responsibility and lift repairs, servicing and compliance contract. The role will hold responsibility for the overall management of all contracts relating to M&amp;E and Lifts, ensuring that contracts are suitably procured and managed, delivering a high service and providing value for money, whilst continually seeking to delivery service improvement. The role will also assume responsibility for ensuring policies and procedures are in place, relevant to the service area and to ensure that they are implemented so that statutory responsibilities are met with the safety of residents, members of the public, staff and our buildings being maintained. Skills: 1	Have a relevant property related degree in a relevant building or technical subject area and preferable be a Chartered Member or working towards a relevant professional body such as the RICS / CIBSE / CIOB. We are looking for an individual with a planning or similar degree and significant Development Management experience along with outstanding communication and customer service skills, knowledge and understanding of planning legislation, case law and policy with experience of presenting to Planning Committees.
While Adur &amp; Worthing Councils largely operate joint services, for planning purposes Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council remain 2 separate planning authorities with their own Local Plans and separate Planning Committee. Working for the Councils therefore provides the unique experience of dealing with 2 individual areas with some differing planning priorities but both striving to provide high quality development while maintaining an attractive environment for our residents. Senior Planning Policy OfficerSalary:Band 8 £35,235, - £37,937 plus a market supplement of £4,373 per annumPlanning Policy OfficerSalary:Band 7 £31,067 - £35,235 plus a market supplement of £3,113 per annum..We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Planning Policy team—either as a Senior Planning Policy Officer or as a Planning Policy Officer. Both roles offer the opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of our communities through effective planning and policy development.What is the role?The Senior Planning Policy Officer plays a strategic role in shaping the future development of the city. This position involves research and analysis to support preparation of the Local Plan and other key planning documents. The senior officer conducts in-depth research and analysis, responds to changes in planning legislation, and leads public consultations. They work closely with colleagues, council services, and elected Members, and represent the Council at planning meetings, sub-regional groups, and public inquiries. Additionally, they provide guidance to other officers and contribute flexibly across the planning department, including supporting Development Management when necessary.In contrast, the Planning Policy Officer supports the senior officer by assisting in the preparation and review of planning policy documents and monitoring development in the City. This includes compiling statistics for reports, conducting research, and helping to deliver public consultations. The officer liaises with internal teams and external partners, represents the Council at planning events, and helps prepare evidence for public inquiries. While the role is more supportive in nature, it also requires flexibility and a willingness to contribute across different areas of the planning department.Who is the person?As the Senior Planning Policy Officer you will be educated to Master's level in Town and Country Planning or an equivalent qualification, with post-qualification experience in planning policy. You will bring an understanding of sustainable development and nature conservation, ideally with experience in habitats regulation assessment, although not essential. You will have experience in community consultation and participation, excellent research and analytical skills, and a sound knowledge of current planning legislation and procedures. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with project management experience and the ability to manage your own workload effectively. As a collaborative team player, you will be committed to maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge and continuous development.As the Planning Policy Officer you will be educated to degree level in Town and Country Planning or an equivalent field. While experience in planning policy and community consultation is desirable, it is not essential, but you should have a good understanding of planning legislation and procedures. You will be capable of conducting research and analysis and be able to summarise outcomes with clarity and accuracy. You will have good communication skills and the ability to build partnerships with other organisations. You will be able to manage your own workload and contribute effectively within a team.
