About The Role:

Our Private Sector Housing team seeks to bring about improvements in the conditions and standards of management of private sector housing.
You’ll assist the team in achieving this through the delivery of housing enforcement standards to ensure private sector residential accommodation throughout the District meets statutory standards and help bring about improvements in conditions and standards of management for residents.
As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you’ll be on the frontline of this vital work working with the Senior Private Sector Housing in the enforcement of housing standards through formal action as necessary in line with Housing legislation.

We’re looking for a committed and customer focused individual to join our Private Sector Housing team. You’ll be based at our Sevenoaks offices, but often out and about across the District – working with residents in their homes, liaising with contractors, and helping to ensure housing standards are upheld.

The post holder will be accountable for the strategic management of complex contracts and procurement processes that drive the GLA’s and Programme’s goals, ensuring a focus on delivering value for money and enhancing outcomes for Londoners. They will ensure integration between the GLA Group Clean Power Commercial Programme and other related programmes and strategies, accelerates the purchasing of clean power, solar panel installations on buildings, heat pumps roll out and buildings retrofit among public sector organisations across London.&nbsp; They will provide commercial expertise to ensure this programme is delivered to high standard, provide guidance and support, engage with key stakeholders, and work closely with senior leadership and the Mayor’s Office to deliver the Mayor’s ambitions.

Flood Risk and Drainage Officer

The post holder will be required to implement the provisions of relevant legislation by means of appropriate enforcement so as to achieve an improvement to the street scene environment. This will include assisting in investigations, gathering evidence, appearing in court as a witness and issuing notices, including but not exclusive to, Community Protection Warnings and Fixed Penalty Notices.The post holder will be responsible for first stage environmental investigations and will have a sound understanding of relevant legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Anti-Social behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, ensuring the authorities policies and procedures are correctly followed at all times..The post holder will be expected to keep accurate pocket notebook records of all enforcement work to a high quality evidential standard and in compliance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 and other relevant legislation, guidance and codes of practice.The post holder will attend promotional events to educate residents on responsible waste management, householder duty of care and appropriate use of Medway Councils provisions.To work closely with Senior officers in the provision of multi-agency events and supporting both external and internal stake holders to ensure effective partnership and collaborative working.The post holder will be required to carry out follow up visits to in cases of non-compliance, liaising with the Environmental Enforcement Team in preparation of case files for prosecution, ensuring up to date knowledge so that all actions comply with written policy and current legislation.
