Residential Children’s Homes Manager – Permanent, Full Time
We have an opportunity for a Residential Children’s Homes Manager to lead and manage our brand-new, multi-building children’s home(s) within the borough.
As the Residential Children’s Homes Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of the residential homes, and the provision of a professional children and young people centred service, in line with the relevant regulations, legislation, codes of practice, and policy and procedures.

Social Worker / Senior Social Worker– Children with Disabilities Team
Our Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team is looking for a Full-Time Social Worker/ Senior Social Worker to join them, who either has experience in a CWD Team or brings excellent skills from a Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) or Child in Care (CIC) background and is keen to extend their knowledge in the disabilities arena.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing quality services to children with disabilities and their families, delivered within a signs of safety practice framework, to support life skills development, increase independence, promote family resilience and keep children safe from harm.
Many of the key aspects of this role, will draw on your previous experience working with families using a strength-based approach. We will provide the training and support you will need to become a confident CWD Social Worker.
The Social Worker role: You will be responsible for a caseload of children with disabilities spanning the range of statutory provisions, including CIN, children subject to CP Plans, CIC and those where Care Proceedings have been initiated. You will work with these children and their families to undertake holistic social work assessments, with a view to identifying risk and need; and work with multi-agency networks to develop and review plans that address and mitigate concerns in a timely manner.
The ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders and communicate effectively in a verbal and written format are key to performing this role, alongside a secure safeguarding understanding.
About the Team: The CWD Team sits within our wider Children with Disabilities Service, which includes a range of resources tailored for families in the Wokingham Borough. The CWD Team is made up of 4 Social Workers and 3 Occupational Therapists. The team is headed up by a Team Manager who has been with Wokingham Borough Council for two and a half years and an experienced Assistant Team Manager. The team works in a hybrid manner, working from the office in Woodley, twice a week, with a pre-arranged duty day in the office which rotates at least once weekly between team members and a team office day on a Thursday. Given the complexity of working with Children with Disabilities, workloads are carefully managed to ensure the ability to deliver a focused and meaningful service.

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Family Help and Safeguarding to lead integrated and responsive services that deliver the best possible outcomes for children and families in Reading.

Brighter Futures for Children has provided children’s services in Reading since 2018 as an independent, not-for-profit company. In the autumn of 2025, these services will transition back to the Council, this move strengthens our commitment to delivering high-quality, inclusive, and child-centred services that support children and families at every stage.
We are focused on early prevention and timely interventions, ensuring children receive the right support at the right time. Our relationship-based and trauma-informed practice model underpins our approach, promoting stability, safeguarding, and strong outcomes for families.
And we are proud of our achievements—including positive inspection results for our children’s homes, fostering services, and support for children in care and care leavers. At the same time, we recognize the need to accelerate improvements for children who require protection and for those at risk of offending. That’s why we are focused on driving change with rigor and pace to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and child-centred services.
The Role
As our Director of Family Help and Safeguarding, you will:

<li>Lead high-quality services, including early help, safeguarding, youth justice, and children in care &amp; leaving care.</li>
<li>Ensure services meet statutory requirements and align with national strategic priorities.</li>
<li>Drive sustained improvements in practice, responding effectively to inspection findings.</li>
<li>Develop a learning culture, where staff are empowered to innovate and refine practice models.</li>
<li>Promote performance management, ensuring teams use meaningful data to evaluate impact.</li>
<li>Provide strategic leadership, influencing policy direction, service planning, and resource allocation.</li>
<li>Develop strong partnerships across education, health, police, and community organisations to deliver collaborative solutions.</li>
<li>Lead our response to Government reforms and local implementation of the Families First programme.</li>

We are a small Catholic primary school, based in Caversham Park Village, Reading. We offer a rich and varied curriculum, and we are looking for a skilled and confident teacher to join our team and to help our children to thrive.
Our children are well-behaved and enthusiastic about learning and their parents are supportive and helpful. We have a very active Parent Staff Association which regularly organises community and fundraising events to support the school. St. Martin’s is a busy, happy place with lots going on!
We are looking for someone who: • Is an enthusiastic and excellent teacher with high expectations and a proven track record of raising attainment • Understands how children learn best • Knows what high standards look like and how to achieve them • Has a good sense of humour and a flexible approach. • Values and supports our school’s warm and caring Catholic ethos – no matter what your own faith background is
