    Working pattern: Full-time, Permanent, Year-round

    About the role

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Learning and Development to strategically lead and shape the learning and development function across our specialist education group, supporting schools and central teams nationwide.

While experience within education, particularly in a senior leadership role such as Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher, would be beneficial, the most important requirement is demonstrable success in leading a similar Learning & Development function.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Lead and develop the Group’s learning, leadership and organisational development strategy, ensuring it supports organisational priorities and workforce capability.

    · Design and deliver talent management, succession planning and leadership development initiatives to strengthen capability and develop future leaders.

    · Oversee induction, apprenticeship and early career programmes, creating clear development pathways across schools and central teams.

    · Monitor, evaluate and continuously improve learning and development activity, ensuring quality, compliance and measurable impact.

    · Partner with school leaders and senior stakeholders to provide expert advice, drive organisational development and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

    What We Are Looking For

    · Strong analytical and reporting capability with an evidence-based approach.

    · The ability to work autonomously, prioritising competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes at pace.

    · In depth knowledge of learning methodologies and organisation development practice.

    · A degree-level qualification, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant field.

    · A recognised postgraduate qualification or professional certification in Learning and Development or Organisational Development.

    · Proven experience conducting training needs analyses and aligning learning activity to organisational priorities.

    · Excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.

    Desirable

    · Chartered CIPD membership.

    · ICF accreditation or a recognised coaching qualification.
