<h4>Job summary</h4><p>The Diagnostics and Pathogen Characterisation (DPC) Division is based at Porton and has approximately 150 staff, focusing on key initial steps in the control of infections, namely pathogen identification, characterisation, and development of diagnostics. Within this division is the Pathogen Characterisation (PC) team which is where this role is situated. The PC team focusses on the increasing use of genomic methods to both detect and characterise the pathogens and host response to infections cause by them, with particular emphasis on ACDP hazard group 3 and 4 agents.</p><p>We are seeking a talented and experienced molecular biologist who will take part in and lead pathogen and host genomic related projects within the DPC division, with both expertise in both wet and dry lab aspects of the subject area.</p><p>The successful candidate will work closely with the Scientific Leader and Head of Department to ensure group and organisational strategy are satisfied. Its purpose is to provide our Accounting Officer with an overview to support the production of our annual reports and accounts, through outlining our control environment and evidencing regularity and propriety in managing public money. The funding assurance activities undertaken throughout the grant lifecycle are integral to inform decision making and improve the design and effectiveness of the corporate governance, risk management and internal control processes in relation to research and innovation funding.</p><p>The primary purpose of the Funding Assurance Senior Manager is to provide front line delivery of research related funding assurance work that contributes to the outcomes reported in the UKRI annual report and accounts. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>The Defence Commercial Graduate Programme (DCGP) aims to recruit individuals from a range of diverse backgrounds. It is owned by the MOD Director General Commercial and is centrally governed by the DCGP Management Team.</p><p><br>Upon joining, you will complete induction training and embark on your Chartered Institute of Procurement &amp; Supply (CIPS) and MOD Specific training. You will receive on-going support throughout the Programme from your Sponsor Line Manager, the DCGP Management Team, experienced Mentors, and past and present Programme members.<br><br></p><p>At the end of the Programme, provided you have achieved the standards expected, you will be offered the opportunity to move into a middle management professional role within your Sponsor Business Area’s commercial function at your designated Permanent Duty Station.</p><p><em>If you are successful and join the DCGP, the location detailed in your offer will be your <strong>Permanent Duty Station</strong>. </em></p><p><em>Where business needs allow, some placements may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement depending on the requirements of the placement/project team.
