<li>The post holder, as a Senior Lawyer, will have personal responsibility for a caseload of complex and non-complex legal work and act as subject matter expert, with appropriate support and supervision from a Head of Law</li>
<li>In the role of Senior Lawyer, you will lead and develop a team of Lawyers who have conduct of matters relating to Adult Social Care and other areas of law, where required, as well as help supervise and contribute to the development of our Trainee Solicitors</li>
<li>Our Senior Lawyers report to and support the Head of Law for our Adult Social Care and Litigation Team. You will support the Head of Law with the development of legal procedures and policies</li>
<li>Senior Lawyers also advise on legal matters relevant to public and local government law, including on executive and committee decision-making, information governance, and public law challenges. You may also be required to advise members and formal decision-making bodies, including Cabinet, Council, committees, and overview and scrutiny in respect of the team's specialism and as required by the Director and/or their Deputy Director</li>

The Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) hosted by Merton Council is one of the largest Environmental Health Services in London, with the Food and Safety Team responsible for overseeing in the region of 6,000 food businesses in Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth. About the role
We are seeking a Dual Diagnosis Worker who has a specialism in complex mental health and substance misuse to join our team in Croydon. This is a residential service which provides specialist mental health, complex needs, and dual diagnosis support to our residents. You will utilise your previous experience and knowledge, and provide specialist support to those who have been diagnosed with mental ill health and have challenges with substance use. You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills.
Within this role, you will act as a specialist for comorbidity, supporting the team to achieve positive outcomes for our residents. Some of the duties may include:

<li>Undertake joint holistic assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and interventions to support harm reduction and minimisation.</li>
<li>Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet individual needs.</li>
<li>Help reduce episodes of crisis and assist residents/participants to access services which can offer alternatives to crisis support.</li>

We’re looking for someone who has specialist knowledge on how to support individuals with comorbid and complex needs, with previous experience in a similar role. We look at individual characteristics to be able to show resilience, solve challenges, and be proactive in your approach. You will have a passion for supporting people to achieve their personal goals, and achieve positive outcomes, this includes having the ability to engage with people who may be hard to reach and engage with. We further are looking for someone who has:

<li>An appropriate qualification which is relevant to the role which could include: National Diploma, Bachelors, or master’s in psychology, Dual Diagnosis, Substance Misuse or any relevant</li>

You’ll work with all sections of the planning department and have the opportunity to develop your skills with the support of your colleagues.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage your own caseload, dealing with a variety of applications, as well as pre-application enquiries. You will be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and actively seeking to add value. If you have an interest in planning, then you’ll know what it takes – an organised approach and commitment to accuracy. You’ll be comfortable meeting deadlines and taking on new challenges
For Graduate and Planner roles, you will have the opportunity to work in project teams with senior colleagues to broaden your knowledge and experience of issues related to larger schemes.
Or if you have existing planning experience and are looking for a more challenging role as a Senior then we can support you to expand your knowledge and experience with a wide variety of interesting work, including major applications.
This role will be based at our Council Offices, Argyle Road, Sevenoaks Kent TN13 1HG. We currently operate a hybrid working model for the majority of our roles where your working time will be divided between the office (2-3 days) and home working (2-3 days).
