If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Health and Safety Manager at Broxbourne Council . Our Human Resources Department plays a vital role in achieving this mission, and we are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager to help us maintain the highest standards of health and safety across all council operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• &nbsp; &nbsp;Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements and best practices. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Provide expert advice and support to managers and staff on health and safety matters. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Organise and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all levels. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend preventive measures. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, including incident reports and training logs. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Liaise with external bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other regulatory agencies as needed. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Promote a culture of health and safety awareness throughout the council.
Qualifications and Experience:
• &nbsp; &nbsp;NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Proven experience in a health and safety role, ideally within a local government or public sector environment. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications and health and safety management software.

We want every visit to our clubs to be inclusive and motivating experience for our customers. Our Fitness Instructors are integral to delivering this and helping our customers to achieve their fitness goals. Additionally, our Fitness Instructors assist the Leisure Centre Management in the supervision, safety, maintenance of equipment and customer retention within the Fitness Suite. The successful candidates must have a CIMSPA accredited Gym Instructor Qualification of level 2 or above (previously REPS accredited).
Due to the nature of activities undertaken (i.e. regulated activity with children), this post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.&nbsp; Any provisional offer of employment made will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate, to include an annually renewed DBS Update Service subscription for the purposes of ongoing satisfactory status checks throughout employment, in accordance with Company Policies.
