We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Housing Standards Officer to join our Environmental Health Residential Team. This is a full-time permanent position.
The Environmental Health teams are within our Housing Health and Engineering Service area and deliver a range of regulatory functions across the Council.
Housing Enforcement Officer £38,220 to £40,777 per annum
Being part of the Residential Team, you will cover a wide range of housing duties, including the enforcement of housing standards, HMOs licensing and investigation of harassment and illegal eviction of private tenants. You will also investigate statutory nuisance and drainage complaints from homeowners and tenants. As part of the Residential Team, you will be given the opportunity to contribute to other areas of work, such as private water supplies and empty properties.
Pendle is in Lancashire’s scenic Pennines, close to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and Manchester.

HIA Support Officer

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Repairs and Maintenance Service of Council Housing as an Estate Steward/Labourer. The successful candidate will undertake general tasks within the Council Housing stock (typically empty dwellings/voids) and the surrounding external areas. You will be required to undertake a range of tasks within void and occupied properties providing a cleaning, decorating and gardening service.
You must be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision and meet our high standards for quality completed works and high customer satisfaction.&nbsp; With experience of the Health and Safety at Work Act, you will ensure safe working practises are always adhered to.&nbsp;
The role will involve undertaking both internal and external works that will be carried out in a range of weather conditions. You will at times be working within empty properties and returning them to the Council Lettable Standard. You will be also required to work throughout the district when required and must be flexible in your approach to meet the demands of the service.
This post is permanent. The working hours for this post are 25.5 hours per week working Monday to Wednesday, 7:30am to 4.30pm. You will be based at White Lund Depot, Morecambe.&nbsp;
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to move between properties and travel to different locations as required.
To drive a Council provided vehicle you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data.
You may be required to undertake Standby duties to cover out of hours work. &nbsp;

The Role
As an Independent Living Officer you will be responsible for the day to day running of a City Council Independent Living scheme, consisting of approx. 36 properties, communal grounds, communal laundry, communal lounges.
You will be the key point of contact for tenants providing support and guidance on a wide range of housing and health/social related concerns both from the office on site and in tenants homes.
Your role will also include offering advice and guidance, acting in the best interests of Lancaster City Council and ensuring our tenants feel heard, valued, and supported throughout the process.
You will provide a housing management service for the tenants and support them to sustain their tenancies as required.&nbsp;You must be capable of demonstrating a sincere commitment to the support of older adults, possess exceptional organisational skills, be customer focused and have good social skills. You must have a calm, patient disposition with the ability to respond quickly and efficiently in an emergency situation, whilst under pressure.
An understanding of community care and the ability to deal with any situation, as and when it arises, in an efficient and effective way, is essential. The Independent Living team is a large, dispersed team, when required, you will be expected to provide cover for any of our other Lancaster City Council independent living schemes within the area.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to always delivering outstanding customer service, a high level of attention to detail, excellent record keeping and proven ability to manage workload whist being a lone worker and work well in a dispersed team.
This post is permanent. The hours of work are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm. You will be based at Lancaster Town Hall.&nbsp;
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to work a transient role around the district, as they will have to travel between locations and travel within the Council’s designated area.
