Your primary focus will be ensuring the quality and standard of privately rented housing in Charnwood. You’ll do this by responding to complaints about disrepair from private tenants, building good relationships with landlords and tenants, completing inspections and reports. We’re committed to your personal and professional development and we’ll offer training to you if you need it.</p>\n<p>This is a hybrid role and we’re flexible to your preference on the amount of time that you work from home or from the office. The Officer will provide advice, assistance and support to Afghan households to understand their housing options and to search for suitable and affordable properties in the private rented sector in order to prevent and relieve homelessness.</p>\n<p>The service will be provided through a combination of workshops, drop-in clinics and targeted one-to-one and group outreach support sessions.</p>\n<p>So, if you have:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in delivering a high-quality service supporting positive outcomes for relocated individuals or families who speak English as a second language</li>\n<li>Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to use appropriate discretion to address complex situations</li>\n<li>Ability to manage a demanding case load and to plan and prioritise effectively in order to achieve targets and meet deadlines</li>\n<li>Experience of homelessness prevention and housing advice</li>\n<li>Current knowledge of Local Authority homeless and housing register application processes and welfare benefits and entitlements</li>\n<li>Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with private landlords and external organisations</li>\n<li>Good knowledge of the statutory framework in relation to safeguarding and an ability to apply this in practice and in day to day case work</li>\n</ul>\n<p>then this role might be for you.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact Emma Moonlight on <a href=\"mailto:emma.moonlight@charnwood.gov.uk\">emma.moonlight@charnwood.gov.uk</a> for an informal chat about the role.</p>\n<p>Please note that this job requires the post holder to work across the Borough and attend meetings at various different locations.</p>\n<p>The successful applicant will be subject to a basic DBS check.</p>\n<p>Secondments will be considered.
