The post holder will represent the Council, ensuring that public areas are kept safe, clean, and tidy, whilst responding to urgent requests and undertaking appropriate actions to resolve any issues. The individual should be able to read and understand relevant legislation, remain calm and composed under pressure and be able to respond professionally in potential emotional and challenging situations. A large part of this role is community engagement, educational events, encouragement and enforcement. The primary focus will be enforcement of the District’s main Green Flag Parks (i.e. Coastal Park, Kingsnorth Gardens) during the summer season and wider district patrolling during autumn/winter of other public open spaces like cemeteries, childrens play areas, and beaches.&nbsp;
Ideally, the post holder will benefit from having enforcement experience or have a background in security, or negotiation skills.
You will support in improving the district and assist in the effective delivery of the environmental patrol function, this includes (Dog fouling, littering, fly-tipping, unauthorised encampments, fly-posting, waste out early, community protection, issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) etc) in accordance with all relevant statutes, guidance, policies and procedures. You will also be expected to prepare Legal case files and attend court where applicable.
The successful candidate will be required to patrol the district by foot for periods of time as well as travelling throughout the district by van. You will need to be able to: • &nbsp; &nbsp;Handle difficult confrontational situations • &nbsp; &nbsp;Keep calm under pressure • &nbsp; &nbsp;Multitask • &nbsp; &nbsp;Have excellent communication skills • &nbsp; &nbsp;Have the ability to work at pace as part of a team or by yourself&nbsp; • &nbsp; &nbsp;A keen eye for detail

About You 
Our District has a varied geography and a substantial number of protected trees. You will take a lead role in all tree related matters, including assessing trees for protection, processing applications and appeals, and providing related specialist advice and guidance to planning officers, enforcement teams, the public, and Councillors. You will also provide key input into the landscape led design at Otterpool and increase opportunities for this across the District.
You will need to have experience of assessing trees for Tree Preservation Orders, a thorough knowledge of tree shrub and hedge maintenance, and a solid understanding of relevant arboricultural legislation. The role operates with a degree of autonomy so you will also be a team player who can operate on their own initiative. About Us
This is an exciting opportunity to join our community teams across Kent as we enhance our locality working practice and put the person and good practice at the heart of what we do.
We work with adults with a range of care and support needs placing individuals at the centre of their support. You will undertake work of varying levels of complexity including, Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Assessments, Court of Protection applications and s42 safeguarding enquiries.
Our social care interventions are structured around the three pillars of excellent practice, exceptional innovation, and meaningful measures. Therefore, our work is orientated around building relationships with the individual their families and carers. We engage with communities early on to help people feel empowered to find trusted help and support locally from a range of sources.
About You
